Gig + no friends... - May 25th 2009, 06:59 PM

Hi all

basically, i'll be frank. I've got no friends. I'm 19. I've got one work colleague who is 30 who i considered a friend but he is busy with his life, girlfriend etc.

I've got no one to ask to go to a gig with me. My family say i should like 'real' music, then people will want to go. I know they are joking though.

But the reality is, i really wanna go to this gig. Its like 15 miles away and i plan to go on my own.

has anyone ever been on their own before? I feel really lonely when i think about the fact i'll have to go alone because people dont really agree with my views and tastes etc, but yeah..

shall i go alone? or will i look like the odd one out when everyone is with their girlfriends/boyfriends and friends and im on my own?

thanks, i look forward to replies

Go on your own if you want to, I'd go on my own and my dad has gone to a concert on your own. If your the sort to get involved then no-one will notice and even if you don't get involved as long you have fun that's all that matters. You might even meet someone there who you can stand with and talk to.

Yes, I'm on my own a lot of the time actually. My one "friend" isn't a very good friend and my other one tends to be a follower with what the other says so if one is mad at me for an idiotic reason like I think they are morons for wasting money on seeing the Jonas Brothers' Movie or Demi Lovatto in concert, then the other is. The way I see it, you cannot make new friends unless you get yourself out there, who gives a rats butt if you're alone? Go for it!
I went to girl scout camp for years when i was little without any friends before I left and this past summer I went to Europe with a group of 145 kids. I knew a few of them because the were from my school but the other 130 I didn't know and I refused to room with anyone I knew previously. My roommate, I will admit, turned out to be a handful and 2-faced, but I had an amazing time and made a bunch of friends from all over Upstate NY nonetheless! I think you should go and do your own thing and not car about what others think, you're you and don't let anyone try and put you down.

Let this end.
This life chose me, I'm not lost in sin.
But proud I stand of who I am,
I plan to go on living."
