Have you told your parents or friends about TH? - August 20th 2009, 04:35 PM

I was just wondering if any of you guys have told your parents about TH. Just to let them know you have been getting advice or posting on forums with other teens. Also, maybe have you told your friends about TH? Maybe to help them get through problems or something. I was just wondering because I haven't told anyone because I'm afraid they will find me and look up my personal posts. Thanks for your feedback!

Whatever it is, chances are I've been there.
If I can make it out, you can too.

Re: Have you told your parents or friends about TH? - August 20th 2009, 04:38 PM

I haven't told either about TeenHelp, I really do not want them seeing my posts and it's highly likely that if I did tell them the name of this site that they'd be able to identify me (Name, profile picture, avatar...)
Even though I mostly post advice to others, I'd still be uncomfortable with them reading what I was writing about, especially if they read posts where I reference to my own past experiences.
Saying that, if they did stumble across TeenHelp then I wouldn't be that bothered, I'd probably panic/stress out for a while and then just get on with it. I used to be pretty paranoid about people finding me, but I really should care less - I'm not ashamed of being here at the slightest.

My parents know I help out on a 'teen site,' they have no clue what the name is and I have my own computer so I don't care if they did. I just would rather not take a chance. So far, they only think I give advice, when I also need it too. I don't need anyone being nosey.

I've told a few close friends about it, so I'm not worried about people seeing what I post about. But if my mother knew about this site, she'd be keeping tabs on anything I did, so I'm not telling her.

No no no no. It's like letting them read your diary (if you had one).

I haven't really told them but I always leave the window open so they probably know about it, and when I use my own computer I leave it in the dinning room so they have seen it...

They know I'm part of a forum, and they know I help people out, but that's about it. I've hidden it from close friends too, I don't need them seeing it.

I have told my grandma about it and she doesn't care at all.

I haven't told them it's called TeenHelp, but my close friends and my parents know I go on a help forum for teens ... they don't mind and they don't want to pry

I haven't told my parents. Well, not technically. They know I go on *a* forum, but they didn't bother to ask what it was about, so I didn't tell them. I wouldn't be too upset if they did know though, since they haven't a clue about the internet therefore definitely wouldn't be reading my posts.

As for my friends, no, not at all. None of them use the internet anyways. But yeah, I don't trust any of them enough to keep it a secret. Chances are, if I told one of them, everyone in my school would know within an hour..

Re: Have you told your parents or friends about TH? - August 22nd 2009, 02:07 AM

I have told my mum that I volunteer on a website, and I told her that I help teens go through some difficult times. I haven't told her that I ask for help, or what it's called. She doesn't care as long as I'm helping people I suppose. If my parents found out, I would be at the Behavioural Health Centre in a moments notice, I'm sure of it.

I have told only one friend about TH, only because he has some problems, and I thought it would help. He declined my offer though. But that's it. My friends don't know anything really about it, and honestly I would like to keep it that way.

I told my old counselor about being a part of HelpLink and what not .... that's about it.

You can lose yourself. Everything. All boundaries. All time.

And just when the sweet confusion is so intense you think you're gonna die... you kind of do.

Leaving you alone in your separate body, but the one you love is still there.

That's a miracle.

You can go to heaven and come back alive. You can go back anytime you want with the one you love.

I haven't told anyone about TH because I don't want them to think I have serious problems. And my mom would freak if she knew I made an online account behind her back.

I want a moment to be real
Want to touch things I don't feel
Want to hold on, and feel I belong
And how can the world want me to change?
They're the ones that stay the same
They don't know me, but I'm still here

They kind of know but they are kind of ignorant about it. It's hard to explain. They know I go to websites and they know that the website deals with issues like depression but they don't know the name and they don't really know how often I go.
