what would you have done? - September 8th 2009, 07:51 PM

so my friend just got a new monroe [sp?] piercing. she asked me what i honestly thought about it. so i told her my honest opinion.. that i don't think it particularly suits her and that she looked better before.

i wasn't meaning to upset her or say that she looks bad in any way.. she doesn't look bad, i just don't think it looks that great!.

now she's pissed off with me and saying that if i have nothing nice to say i shouldn't say anything. wtf? she's the one who asked my opinion.

but yeahh.. i hate it when people ask you for your "honest" opinion and then get upset if you don't tell them how amazing they look.

what would you have done??. tell them the truth or lie and say it looks great even when it doesn't?.

I think what you did is what true friends should be able to say to each other. Friends are only there to help, not hurt, and yes she does have a little reason to be upset as she's found out she has a piercing that doesn't suit her, but she did ask for your honest opinion and that is what you gave. I respect honesty in people, and if she loves the piercing it shouldn't matter what others think of it. I'd give her time to cool down and try and explain that you didn't mean to offend her, which I think should be obvious anyway.
Take care [:

I would have been honest and said I don't think it suits you but if you're happy with it then that's what matters because at the end of the day, it's her that has to live with it not you so why does it matter what you think of it? As long as she's happy with it. Have you tried telling her that?

yeah i told her that it shouldn't matter what i think anyway. but she's being all annoying about it. tbh she is one of those people who just needs attention and to be told how great they are every second of the day so i think i'm just gunna leave it.
