Torn between school and family. - December 14th 2009, 05:39 PM

So since I go to school online and am required to complete my courses by mid-January, I asked my parents if I could stay home while they traveled north to visit family for Thanksgiving. My dad said they wouldn't ask anything else of me for the rest of the year if I would just go. I ended up going, which put me behind in schoolwork that I was already behind in due to starting the year late.

For my birthday, my sister bought me tickets to a concert in a city five hours away. We're going there for a few days and I still haven't caught up on the extra schoolwork. I'm completely fine with that, because my plan is to complete my classes in the remaining three weeks. Here's the problem: my parents are now asking me to go south for the holidays. So we won't be back until January, and that gives me nowhere near enough time to finish up the classes. They told me that I can do it at my grandparent's house, but honestly, I've tried to do schoolwork on vacation before. It doesn't happen. No one reminds me and all they do is complain when I tell them I can't spend time with them. How do I get my parents to agree and let me stay home?

You have to talk to your parents about this seriously. Tell them if you dont do this work then your schooling will be ruined because school is really important and if you want to go to a good university you'll have to complete every course that they set you. If it was your parent's idea to give you online schooling, then tell them if they're the ones that wanted you to do this in the first place, they have to allow you to actually do the work that the online school sets you.
Good luck!
