I think you should try talking to her. Maybe just say "Hi", "it's been a long time" and ask how she's been or what she's been up to? You don't really have to say too much about yourself if you don't want to. By asking her questions you'll have a base on something to go with and can control in which direction the conversation goes.

It's completely normal to be nervous, but the conversation may just go better than you think it will! It's definitely worth the try.

Hi.
Yeah, I agree with Mel. You really need someone to talk to and to have as a friend because you seem rather lonely and in need of a friend.
Go ahead, talk to her. What have you got to lose? I'm sure she'd like to talk to you again, after all, you did say that she really did seem to like you.

You don't really have to tell her that you got kicked out of school or any of that. Just start out. Once you start, then, I'm sure, the rest of the conversation won't seem all that scary!! =)
Best of luck!
Pm me if you may need anything!

Thanks ladies. She will likely ask what's been happening with me though.

Heyya,
Well you should deffo talk to her, I know it can be hard. You don't have to tell her that you got kicked out of school ect ect. Just start by saying something like "Hi", then mybe ask how she is?, what she's up to at the weekend? ect? It'll start you off.
