Meaning of a TRUE Friend - February 13th 2009, 03:11 AM

Hey everyone,
just curious, what do you all consider good traits of a good friend or maybe even a best friend? They can be serious or funny or a mix. I'll start:

-Trustworthy
-Honest
-Someone u can be yourself around
-Someone u can laugh around
-Someone who u can talk to and who can talk to u
-who can pick u up after u have fallen hard for a boy/girl
-who u can laugh at bizzare teachers with
-Some one who won't judge u
-Some on who makes u feel good

Ur turn!

'If he wants a fight well now he's got one
And he ain't seen me crazy yet
He slapped my face and he shook me like a rag doll
Don't that sound like a real man?
I'm gonna show him what little girls are made of
Gunpowder and lead'

Re: Meaning of a TRUE Friend - February 13th 2009, 03:26 AM

hmm...
i would consider a best friend to be someone:
-that i can talk about anything with
-that will always be there for me
-someone who is completly honest with me
-someone that will ask me what wrong even when i say nothing and there clearly is

i would consider a friend to be:
-someone that i get along good with
-someone that i can talk with about somethings but not everything
-someone that i feel comfortable around

A best friend is:
-Someone that I trust, and trusts me back
-Someone that never judges me or says things to hurt me
-Someone that can cheer me up and make me smile no matter how bad I feel
-Someone that is always there for me no matter what
-Someone that I would readily die for
-Someone that I never get tired of talking to
-Someone that makes me feel safe, like everything is going to be ok, even when every other instinct is telling you it won't.

Good descriptions, guys. Makes me so glad to think I've found that person that matches all the criteria. I love having a best friend.

Someone loyal. Loyalty is the most important thing to me.
Someone you can trust 100%
Someone who will ALWAYS join a fight if you've gotten into it, just to make sure you dont get hurt.
Someone who dosnt bitch.
Someone to is patiant.
Someone who listens.

Someone who shares the same core values as me and acts with good intention. If we were true kindred spirits we'd bring out the best in each other.

- Mistakes do not matter
- Bicker about something stupid but be laughing more than ever minutes later
- Someone you can naturally open up to, who is straight and honest with you
- Tell you what needs to be said, not what you want to hear
- The little 'knowing' glances you share. You know exactly what the other is thinking without having to open your mouth
- Someone that would lift impossibly heavy things off you. (Haha. Inside joke, but you understand the sentiment)
- Simply someone you cannot imagine your life without

A lot of the common traits have been covered so I won't go over those again.

Hey there,

I think that this is a great thread!

What I think to be a friend is someone you can be yourself around. Anyone you feel comfortable acting like just you with. Someone who can laugh and chat, hang out, and listen. Someone who knows that friendship goes both ways, and they act on that.

Keep up the good traits and descriptions!
Nat.

Re: Meaning of a TRUE Friend - February 13th 2009, 09:59 PM

I think a best friend needs to be willing to be a best friend. Someone that knows they have duties just as much as I do. I don't consider people best friends if they can't carry their own weight. Honestly, we don't need to have anything in common. As long as I can be myself and they can be themselves, everything is good. I'd need to be able to trust them without doubt and I'd need their trust as well. They'd also need to be honest with me and willing to talk things out just as much as fighting.

Re: Meaning of a TRUE Friend - February 14th 2009, 05:40 AM

Actually there's only thing that makes someone a best friend to me, all of the rest are somewhat insignificant.

Time

Simply I would say the more time you spend with someone the better friends you are with that person. What they do and who they are don't mean much to me. As long as someone would spend time with me all those other things will come along.
