They Don't Understand - November 21st 2010, 07:03 PM

My family always takes things the wrong way and doesn't help me through anything. They always expect more from me - even if I do all I can, and it makes me upset. They always think the negative things and don't help me. Then they wonder why I don't talk to them about anything. I should, they're my family, but I don't trust their voice in my life. If I say there is something wrong with me (ex: I'm sick) usually they don't believe it until it's too late, or I have to fight to convince them I am. It's not fun lying to them, but what else am I supposed to do? If I tell them the truth they get mad at me, don't believe me, don't give me advice, or give me advice that wrecks everything even more.
I'm now taking counselling and I'm starting to have trust issues.
Has my family ruined me?
Here's the reasons why I think so:
1: I don't smile as much and I react...badly to a lot of things now.
2: I'm afraid of almost anything.
3: Because of lectures and constant warnings from my parents I barely leave the house alone.
4: I'm having friendship problems.
5: They don't trust a word I say, and I don't with them either.
Reasons why they might not have a lot of fault:
1: I'm showing severe anxiety.
2: Like I said, counselling. Which I haven't told them about yet.
3: Possible mental condition my counsellor and I have to look into.
4: I sit in my room most of the time alone.
5: I'm missing classes because I have to go see my counsellor. (I don't have a problem with this, but my grades might go down.)

I'm not sure what to do.
What's going on? Why do they do this sort of thing?

(PS: If this is in the wrong forum, sorry, thought it would go best in here.)
