Red face adopted.. - January 9th 2009, 12:11 AM

so im adopted and was from the time of being a baby. i have no memory of my birth mom or dad, only stories and letters. i have only one picture of my brother and sister and thats it, none of my mom or dad.
i know the situation wasnt the best - my dad was a druggie and used to beat and steal from my mom - but i still wonder. i know my moms first and last name and my dads first and that she used to live in wisconsin. for all i know she still lives there but her and my adoptive parents lost contact about 10 or so years ago.
i would love to be back in contact with her or even moreso meet her and talk to her...i just dont know how id go about it =\...help? any ideas?

I'm not really sure hun, but I didn't want to read and run. Your parents may have lost contact with your birth parents, but the adoption agency should have her on file. If not a new address, they will at least have all the info such as name, previous address and notes for why you were adopted, if there are any.

I know in England your allowed to ask about your real parents and get info from the age of 18 but I'm not sure what your laws are I'm afraid, you will have to check. I definitely think that contacting the adoption agency is the way forward though.

I hope it goes well for you and try to keep an open mind. Things aren't always the way we expect them to turn out. Best of luck to you x x x

The adobtion agency sounds like a good plan, although im not sure weather they will give you the information, it can be a bit risky. You could always write your mom a letter and ask them to pass it onto her for you?

Also, what about social networking sites, is she likely to have a facebook or anything you could search on?

Just be careful
