friend stalking,very clingy. PLEASE HELP I AM DESPERATE - January 25th 2011, 09:15 PM

I have a friend, who is a really nice girl and she's a good friend and I have her on facebook but she is constantly sending me messages nonstop and game requests, she used to be a bit of a stalker back in high school when we had just become friends, I really cannot deal wth her making it impossible for me to see my other friends statuses and all these messages and game requests, I really feel like the best way to end this is to delete her as a friend, would that be being heartless? I still want to be her friend, just not on facebook, I really don't know what to do please help me.
any advice is greatly appreciated
Thanks!
-Ashley

Have you tried messing around with the settings on Facebook? You can hide her status updates on your news feed, and I believe you can block all future game requests from her. There isn't much you can do about the wall posts/messages, though.

People tend to take "Facebook friendship" way, WAY too seriously... so if you block her on there, you'll probably suffer repercussions in your "real-life friendship" as well. =/ I'd suggest ignoring her stuff on Facebook, or maybe explaining that you don't like having 50 messages every time you log on. Ask her to cut back on what she sends you every day... if she sends an average of 10 notices per day, tell her you only want 3 per day. After that, she needs to just write everything down and tell you about it in person the next time you see each other.

There's a big difference between harassing someone and stalking someone. She may have stalked you in high school, but this isn't really stalking. She's just being a big pain the ass.

Stalking isn't direct, while harassing is. Believe me, I was stalked not too long ago by someone I thought was a friend. Lately she's resorted to having her friend send fake phish messages to me, because she realizes she's been busted. Fortunately they go in my junk folder.

So, yeah, there's a difference between stalking and being a pain in the ass. You can tell her off, simple as that. I think it's ridiculous how she floods your facebook wall every day!
