People always leave... - February 22nd 2011, 07:19 AM

Hi!
I just feel like people always leave. My brother (only sibling) who's two years older than me, moved out last year (on my birthday, when I was away at camp). I knew he was going to, but it felt so empty when I came home and he was gone. I still see him every now and then (he only lives two hours away), but it's not the same as being able to just walk into his room and talk to him.

The majority of my friends are a year older than me, which means that they left junior high when I was still there. Now we're all in (different) high schools, but in June, they all graduate and in the fall they move on to college. This wouldn't be too bad if they were staying in this town, but I don't think anyone is. I even have friends talking about going to England or France, or even the US, to study!

Of course I want them to be happy and do the right thing, but at the same time I'm sad, and I bet I'm gonna cry when they leave...

Sorry, just needed to rant a little. If you have any advice, feel free to share

Hey, Dreamer. <3 I've been the older AND the younger friend, so I can understand how difficult this must be for you. Yes, you probably are going to cry... I know I would if all my friends left the country! Fortunately, technology allows us to stay connected to our loved ones, so at least you can stay in touch via e-mail, instant messaging, video chat, etc. =)

I responded to your thread in the Education and Careers forum as well... I can see you're going through a LOT right now, and it can feel like you're alone in facing all these new challenges. Please know that you are NEVER alone. =D You're welcomed to PM me anytime if you'd like to talk.

Thanks for your reply! I talked about it all with a (younger) friend yesterday, and I could tell that she feels the same way. It feels good that someone else is as well, but I really am going to miss them... But let's face it; it's still several months away I just have to do the most of what's left until they leave! <3

I'm still really torn about changing schools in the fall though. I really want to take those classes (that I can't take at my current school), but at the same time it would feel kinda weird to go to one school for two years, and then go the third (last) year at another school, and graduate with them. Plus; My current school is part of an exchange program, and the students from the other school came to us in January. The idea is that I'll get to go to England in September/October, but if I change school, I can't do that. On the other hand, I think my future is a little more important, than staying at my current school just to take a one week trip to the UK... But at the same time, I'd feel kinda rude to the girl who stayed with me, and whom I'm supposed to stay with... Jeez this is confusing! I'll stop rambling now!

EDIT; the last part is actually for the thread I posted in the Education and Career-forum, but it kinda implies here as well
