Unhappy friends really letting me down, feeling left out and just generally pissed off at them - March 7th 2011, 03:14 AM

basically, ever since the beginning of about January, one of my friends has been having small get togethers at his house and has been including everyone in my "ring" of friends except for me. I confronted one of my friends (not the one who's having these parties) and he said "yeah sure, just come to the next one". only problem is, they never told me when the next one was. I assumed they just hadn't planned one until I saw a new facebook album go up about, guess what, another party he had this past weekend. now I'm learning that they all were planning on going to see a concert this Friday. naturally, I was uninformed and only found out because they started talking about their plans on facebook. the friend who coordinated the whole thing seemed cool with the idea of me going, but I'm still a little bit pissed that he didn't just tell me right off the bat that they were going. it's the weirdest thing, at school, we hang out and are (obviously) friendly towards each other, we hang out at each other's houses on numerous occasions, and we've all been friends for about 5 years now, but on the weekends it's like they don't even want to be near me.

I know, I know, I sound like a little bitch and I don't want to be a prick about it, but at the same time, I kind of feel like I need to say something to get my point across. what should I do?

I am sorry that you're feeling left out. That's never fun. I think that you should go straight to the source of these parties and say something along the lines of "Hey, I was just wondering if you had a party planned for soon?" If they don't, then frequently check back. There is no reason as to why they should leave you out of things. If they were good friends, they would be inclusive, not exclusive. Maybe you should coordinate a party, or a fun get together at your place, or somewhere else. That could work, and it will get people to want to talk to you more, possibly. But of course, you want friends who are going to want to talk to you for you. Maybe you should find another group of friends that are more accepting of you, who are more inclusive. As tough as that may be, it's super beneficial probably.

I hope this helped,
