If you can, get out of the house for a bit. If it's too late at night or your parents won't let you go for a walk by yourself, then blast some music and sing along. Or put on some headphones and listen to soothing music while reading a good book. Find something you enjoy doing, and do it. I'm afraid I don't really have any other suggestions - when my parents started getting into arguments, I would just hop in my car and drive around for an hour before heading home.

That is a tough question. The memories are just piercing my brain.

My parents would fight like no tomorrow. But usually I would turn my ipod up to the highest notch, or the television. Whichever was available. There would be times where I would defend my mother, and a few times my father, but usually I would just shut my bedroom door, and let my ipod music, or the television program, sort of block all of it.

There would be times where my sister would be fighting with my mother, and I would always listen in. I never got how whenever my parents fought, I would sort of shut myself off from that, but when my sister and mother fought, I always had to hear what they were arguing about. But that was usually how I dealt with family arguments.

Maybe you can take up writing, or drawing. Perhaps just practice zoning yourself out. Parents fight, but you can be able to ignore it. Maybe after they fought, talk with them, and let them know how you get upset whenever they fight.

Hopefully this tactic can work for you as well.

Hey there!

I agree with the above posts- music. Music is a great distraction. Creating music is an even bigger distraction. I know you like to write poems and such, so maybe writing a song/poem would help you cope. Also, I suggest making a Vlog (video blog). I've discovered recently that it's a huge distraction for me. Make a vlog about your feelings, and then watch the vlog. Another thing you can do is take a bath. The loud water can sometimes overpower the yelling, and can be relaxing. I think doing anything that involves self expression would be good! Writing, drawing, dancing, coloring. Speaking of coloring- I've found that to be very thereputic.
