Unhappy Losing my best friend - June 26th 2011, 02:38 AM

I've litterally know my bestfriend for my entire life. We were always inseperable. At times we were the only friends we had. She's like my sister and I love her so much. But in the last few months we've been drifting apart. And then summer started and things got worse. Summers half over and we only hung out once. I miss her so much. I still text and call her and ask to hang out but she never really wants to. And today I texted her and she said she was sad. I asked why and she said she doesn't want to talk to me right now so I stopped texting her. She can't even open up to me anymore! I can't stand the thought of losing her. I love her so much and it's tearing me apart that we might not be bffs for much longer

Hey Dani.

I know what you're going through. Sometimes friendships don't work out and it hurts when friends drift away.
It seems like you're doing all you can to keep the friendship going. I suggest making some new friends so that when your friend isn't wanting to hang out you still have someone to turn to.
Have you tried asking her what she wants to do? See if she has any suggestions.
Also, let her know that whenever she does want to talk to you, you're there for her, particularly if she's feeling down. Something else could be going on.

But remember, only try to keep up the friendship if that's what you want. If you get sick of it, remember that you need to keep yourself happy before trying to keep her happy.

Aaw, I understand how you feel.
Perhaps you should try speaking to her on the phone, that way it's easier to pick up on if she seems upset about something by her voice. Arrange a sleepover if you can, they're great for talking about everything.
It sounds like she's upset about something at the moment. If so, let her know she can tell you when she's ready. Perhaps she just doesn't feel like doing anything. Either way, try not to take it personally. I agree with Hester about making sure you're happy in a friendship.
Maybe a bit of space will be good for you both?
