Unhappy I just can't stand it anymore. - August 21st 2011, 10:52 PM

I'm tired. I recently moved in a small town and I think it is driving me crazy. I mean, I feel that I am in a prison. I am so far away from the rest of the town, so I have to depend on my parents for everything. And, I'm almost 18. I'm supposed to be becoming more independent yet I am not. I feel overwhelmed by my parent's problems: my father is sick and there are certain things we can never afford (like sending me to an university away from here.) So, I am stuck with them for another 4 years and I feel that I am going to go insane. It's so quiet here and you can barely see anybody out. I feel so old. I just can't stand being here one more week. Since my dad go sick(years ago), I don't feel close to my parents at all. It is as if I'm living with different people.
They said it will be easier if I stayed with them during university but being in this town with them is making me even more depressed and suicidal than before.

Have you looked at scholarships? I don't know a lot about them, but I've heard that they've got a scholarship for pretty much everything. You just have to look hard for them. There are hundreds (if not, thousands) of scholarships that don't get used. Maybe that can help you find a college away from there.

Either way, please don't do suicide. Its not worth it!

Welcome to TeenHelp! =)

I have some friends who couldn't stand to live with their parents while going to school... so they applied for scholarships, grants, and student loans in order to set aside enough money for rent. The downside is that you'll probably be dealing with a fair amount of debt after earning your bachelors degree. The upside is that you'll be much healthier emotionally, which will allow you to work harder and possibly even get a part-time job while going to school full-time. You could start saving up money to pay off the loans right off the bat, and you wouldn't have to rely on rides from your parents.
