Unhappy Parents are addicts, i don't know what to do.. - August 22nd 2011, 11:33 PM

I don't know how to start this kind of thing, but I guess I'll just jump into it.

My parents are both crack addicts, and I have been living with it all my life, and I lived most of it feeling sorry for myself. Until recently, I started staying at my boyfriends house, but my stay here is coming to an end in a couple days, and I am scared to go back home.

Things have gotten worse at home, there is no food, and they are always yelling at each other, my mom always looks miserable.

I tried leaving for a while, but it doesn't work because I just get phone calls from my mom asking me for money (which i dont have a lot of) or calling and sounding all up set, saying things that make me feel awful.

If I go back I am honestly scared I'm not gonna make it back out. I have a bad history with things like self abuse, and i managed for the past couple months, and have been doing great. But I just know if I go back there, I'll fall down hill again. I tried talking to people, but no one really thinks I am that upset about it, that I'll be fine. But I can't help but feel differently.

I have no idea what to do anymore

I don't really know if I explained all that well, I don't really talk about it often.

Hello, Becca. Welcome to TeenHelp!

Unfortunately, because you're an adult, your options are somewhat limited. You can call the police and tell them your parents are addicted to an illegal substance. They could charge your parents with possession and (with your insistence) possibly have them admitted to a rehab facility. If that's not something you want to do, then I'd suggest doing everything within your power to become financially independent, ex. getting a job and paying rent to your boyfriend/a friend/another individual with the money you've earned. Finally, if you would like to talk to someone about what's going on, there are organizations like Narcotics Anonymous, which caters to both the addicted individuals and their family members. =)

I wish you all the best. Take care!
