Friend issues

Before summer I made a new friend at school, and she and I became close over the summer, her dad died and I spent a lot if time talking to her and helping her get through it, school has just started again, and as have my family problems, my brother is depressed and my family always fights, because of this I havent been able to talk to her as much, and my stupid pride is stopping me from letting her help me, which she has offered to do. Its been awhile since she and I have really talked, and Im lost because she and I may not work as friends because her friends and mine are so different, she is friends with theater kids, who are often too much for me, and jocks, who due to past events i am biased against. My friends are nerds and stoners, and neither of us are close to anyone in either groups except eachother, i dont want to lose this friendship because i care about her so much but i dont know what to do, please help me, im lost.

Well, she's your friend right? talk to her. that's all. Who she likes to hangout with do not matter if you are friends. That's all I have to say. Stay positive! <3

The problem is she thinks I am ignoring her because I do not really talk to her at school because she is always with other people who i dont like

Then prove you're not ignoring her by talking to her. =) It doesn't make it any easier, but it's going to be the most direct way to say, "Hey, I value your friendship." If you don't want to talk to her while she's with her friends, just walk up to her and ask if you could talk to her in private for a moment. You can't afford to completely avoid a friend just because they're around people you don't like. You can, however, take steps to ensure you're not always with them when you're with her.

just go ahead and talk to her, dont worry about what other people think about it, its none of their business. just ignore her friends you dont like and talk to her, after all, she is the focus! good luck

i have decided to write a letter or text to her, which we have used before to get through bad times, i have posted another thread with the contents of that letter and would be glad if someone would give it a look

thank you for all your help so far, and i understand that ignoring her is only going to make it worse, but i dont think i am brave enough to talk to her face to face about it at school
