Its hard. - October 23rd 2011, 03:44 AM

My mama told me a couple years ago that my dad was abusive when i was a little girl. I guess i shouldnt want to know him but i have really good memorys with my daddy and none of them are about him being abusive, im not sure if shes lying but one day im going to try to talk to him. I just wish he could be in my life and see me graduate or teach me to drive. Last time I talked to him, I was 10. He cried as soon as he heard my voice. He apologized for everything and we laughed about the good things and cried when we had to hangup. Its hard not knowing who your dad is. I cry all the time because i dont know why he didnt want to be part of my life.

Hello, and welcome to TeenHelp!

Do you have any other family members who would know how to get in touch with your dad? Maybe you can find his Facebook account (if he has one), or you can get an e-mail address or physical/mailing address from a relative. I don't know if your mom is telling the truth, or if she's lying in order to make your dad look bad/make herself look better. That's something you'll have to decide after weighing all the information you have, as well as using your best judgment to decide whether or not your mom is being entirely honest about your dad.

I wish you all the best, regardless of what happens. Good luck!
