Non-Traditional Thanksgiving Dinner? - November 5th 2013, 06:50 PM

Hey guys! My family has asked me to prepare Thanksgiving Dinner this year.

It has to be non-traditional, as I have a very severe turkey allergy, and no one in my family likes the other thanksgiving foods.

If I was to keep the same sort of format for the meal, does anyone have some interesting recipe suggestions? Vegetarian / vegan ideas are extremely welcome.

Note: I'm only cooking for 3 people, so it doesn't need to be a giant amount of food. Thanks!

My mom made chile rellenos as part of Thanksgiving dinner last year. My sister doesn't like turkey and I'm a vegetarian, so she thought this would be a good side dish that we could both use as main dishes. It contains eggs and cheese, so it's not vegan, but they're very delicious! Overall, you can make a large Mexican food dinner, chili rellenos, beans, rice, some enchiladas, etc. Perhaps consider some other ethnic recipes if Mexican food isn't your thing; a duck dinner for a Chinese special, maybe a Japanese with chicken teriyaki and sushi, etc. We can help you find recipes if you figure out what types of food you'd like!
