Acidic Foods? - December 3rd 2013, 07:07 PM

I was told this morning that I need to consume less acidic foods. I do not eat citrus fruit or vinegar based dressings. I'm really confused on what I could be eating that is acidic. Are there any acidic foods that you wouldn't really think of as being acidic?

Quite a lot of the foods we eat are actually acidic. For example, a lot of grain products are slightly acidic even though you wouldn't think they are. Dairy products are also classed as acidic so if you eat a lot of cheese then you should cut back on that.

If you drink any fizzy drinks or fruit juice they're all quite acidic so watch what you're drinking as well.

Here's a little guide on highly acidic foods - http://www.livestrong.com/article/23...ic-foods-list/

Since you need to cut down on acidic foods it might help to eat more alkali foods so that any acidic foods you do eat end up being slightly neutralised. I found this guide to different types of alkali food that might be of help - http://www.phmiracleliving.com/t-food-chart.aspx

I hope this helps!

Soda and candy I know are big problems when it comes to acidity. Is this for dental or digestive reasons? I know my dentist gets on me for my acidic diet.

Dental, but the thing is I do not drink soda or eat candy. I really don't understand what I could be doing wrong. My mom says it's bad genetics but my dentist swears it's from eating too much acidic foods.
