Talking Easter Cake! - April 15th 2017, 12:28 PM

Everyone knows I love sharing my latest baking escapades on here.

So, following tradition on special occasions, I made an Easter cake yesterday.
My whole family is Catholic so I want to respect my upbringing as well as making something super tasty, so I came up with the 'Both Sides of Easter' cake:

So one side is all pretty with eggs and flowers and is designed to be like a bird's nest. So cheerful and springtime and lovely.
The other side represents the crown of thorns and is deliberately very plain and serious. 'It is finished' are noted as being Jesus' last words in one of the gospels describing the Passion.

The cake itself is ginger, and the nest/thorns are orange Matchmakers. It's very simple but it's worked out pretty well.

Throw those curtains wide
One day like this a year would see me right

Definitely like the poetic symbolism of the cake. It looks delicious but I wouldn't want to eat it.

It's a work of art.

I loooove this cake and it's cleverly made!

Based on how I react when the toast pops out of the toaster, I will never look cool walking away from an explosion.

Both the cake itself and its symbolism is beautiful. Wonderful job, Louise! I hope you continue making themed cakes and other desserts.

that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Ooh nice cake!
And interesting references and symbolism

The moon comes out
As the sun goes down
Your room gets dark
You start hearing sounds
You may start to worry
As your heart beats like a drum
Oh you can Hum

wow is so realistic that everything on it seems just like the actual thing would. Reminds me of a cake I had recently which had flowers and leaves on (all eatable).
