It's about a minimum of eight cups of water daily. It may be more depending on yourself though, so possibly getting a doctors opinion may be better because they can evaluate in exercise, diet, etc to find out specifically what your body needs.

8 cups of the water is the suggested minimum. However, most nutritionists suggest that you drink about half your body weight in water each day in order to stay properly hydrated.

What the f***...no no no! To put that in perspective, that means I would be drinking 22L of water a day!!! Hahahahahahaha my cells would lyse! It is about 30mls per kg which is recommended, not 500ml per kg! That means [EDIT]an average person should have about 1,200mls, or 1.2 L a day. Now of course, some people who are more active would need more, and of course don't let yourself get thirsty, but certainly not half your body weight - where the hell did you get that from!

My health teacher told us to take our weight, take half of that and make it ounces of water. So I guess it all depends. Also I'm from America so you know our measuring system is messed up as heck. Hahaha (:

You would die O.o That's way too much water, since a litre of water is approximately a kilo so the majority of people would have to drink over 25L a day of water...

I believe you're supposed to drink approx. 2L of water a day

I drink a lot of water a day. I refill my water bottle which holds 2 cups about 6 times a day.

Let me rephrase a bit... 1/2 your weight in OUNCES of water. xD
So if the recommended amount is 64oz (which is the same as 2 quarts which is CLOSE to 2L), that would be approximately 1/2 the weight of a person in ounces of water.
However, for some people, that's not enough because they are larger. For some people, it might be considered too much. My doctor has always told me 1/2 my body weight in ounces of water. :P

You silly Australians. :P

Hahahaha it's also said that if you drink soda you need to drink two cups of water to replenish that. I think that's only if you're in the mountains though? I could be wrong. I just know that's what I was always told at camp since soda dehydrates you.

Re: How much water - July 1st 2011, 08:56 AM

haha this is funny...I know I'm not going to be of any help but even if you don't drink water and I admit i maybe drink 5 cups per week you are still fine. I haven't gotten dehydrated once in my 19 years and have never ever liked water

But I heard it was 8 cups of water a day or around that

Re: How much water - July 1st 2011, 04:53 PM

I probably drink a little over a gallon (3.7 liters) of water per day, partially because I like to stay hydrated and partially because I don't drink other things like soda, juice or energy drinks.
