How to make coffee taste like...well, not like coffee - September 8th 2011, 07:59 PM

So, I'm a junior in college who's taking 18 hours worth of classes on top of starting a job at one of the dorms where I sit at the desk from 3am-7am. It doesn't sound to bad, but there's no one to talk to and you have to go to classes right afterward, it gets pretty tedious. So, in order to stop myself from passing out at work and getting in HUGE trouble, I'd like to learn how to make a really good cup of coffee. Every time I see someone with a cup or I smell it, my stomach thinks it'd be so good, but my brain reminds me of the few times I've tried my dad's coffee. I think he only ever put french vanilla creamer in his. I also like those frozen caramella drinks, but with fall and winter coming and since I drive my scooter to work and am freezing by the time I get there, a nice hot drink'd be good.

So long store short, can anyone recomemend brands/what to put in coffee to make sure it's not bitter. Being a cologe student I'm kind of broke, so I can't really waste money on something I may hate. Thanks!

I would say lots of milk and sugar.

Or drink something like a cappuccino rather than a plain coffee.

Add milk and just a shot of espresso. You can also buy syrups to add that help flavor the coffee so that it isn't bitter anymore.

You can find caffeine in loads of places- tea, energy drinks, and supplements are really popular.
As for the coffee, you might like to add some flavoured syrup. I enjoy Starbucks and I know they sell their syrups in store and online.

You will want to find time for sleep. As wonderful as caffeine is, there is absolutely no substitute for sleep.

I'd say add some more milk, oh' cream goes down with coffee quite well. Try cream. And some chocolate on top.

I know you can get flavoured coffee, but i'm not really sure how nice that would be.
I think that the best thing to do would be to add lots of milk

Because you're broke. one idea is to buy flavored Instant Coffees. The ones from NesCaf are fairly decent, are pre-flavored, and you can always add more sugar if it's still too coffee like.

Tea or energy drinks might be a good bet too. Tea is a lot healthier, but energy drinks are very sweet and not bitter at all. Tea is very easily sweetened, and tastes great with some milk, or lemon and honey! You can also try 5 Hour Energy shots, they're kind of bitter, but go down easily, and do not give jitters. (to me, they don't give me the jitters, drink a half one first and see how it affects you)

Or you can just convert your tastebuds to the wonderful world of COFFEE. <3
