Vegetarian Restaurant options! - January 8th 2012, 03:32 AM

Vegetarians, I know for us, cooking is always easier than going out. I think we've all been in the situation with the awkward side salad while your friends eat chicken wings. But where do you like to go out to eat, that has your favorite options? This can be fast food, in restaurant, anywhere. Where have you found good vegetarian options?

1. PF Changs (US only I believe...Correct me if I'm wrong!) is amazing. My boyfriend and I went there today, and they made us orange/spicy tofu, and it was absolutely amazing, and very cheap for going out! You can ask any of the meat options to be replaced with tofu, and they're very friendly about it.

2. Jimmy Johns has a vegetarian sandwich that's quite good, much better than the Subway topping sandwich, and have a good size as well.

3. Taco Bell is really the only "fast food" I can do, you can get bean burritos, and I've learned recently they'll put the fritos from the Beefy Crunch Burrito in your bean burrito, which sounds weird at first, but is very good for an extra zang in your meal.

Most restaurants I have been to have at least 1 vegetarian option.

-Red Robbin offers veggie burgers and can take out meats in salads (most restaurants will take out meat for you)
-Olive Garden has plenty of vegetarian options
-Thai, Chinese, and Teriyaki places offer rice which is vegetarian

Every restraunt I've been to except one has at least one veggie option available. The only place I haven't found one was Fridays.

I noticed that when i went to the US, there are hardly any vegetarian options available in restaurants. I eat fish so it was okay but some places I 'd have gone hungry if i didn't. I've never really come across any restaurant in the UK that don't have at least one decent veggie option though so it never usually causes a problem

Cheese pizza, veggie pizza, jacket potatoes, salad, soup,

Subway - do a veggie sub, just ask!

Pizza hut, dominoes etc - cheese pizza, veggie pizza.

Mc Donalds -.... well, kinda. But its the bun... without the burger and just the veg :/

Harvester resturants do breaded muchrooms, garlic dough balls, fish (if you eat it)

Most places that offer platters do a veggie one

Contrary to popular belief, there are many cheese products that are not vegetarian. Cheese made traditionally contains rennet. Rennet is an enzyme that is derived from the inner lining of a cow's stomach. Other things in cheeses that can be derived from meat include natural flavours, and pepsin (to name a few). If you're going to get a cheese pizza, or something like that, be sure that you know the source of the cheese. Also, parmesean cheese is very common to have rennet in there, so it's safer to just not add it.

My friend likes getting the burritos from Taco Bell, but instead of the meat, gets rice in it. =P

A lot of chinese and japanese restaurants have a lot of options. We all like going to this one place near me, it's 100% vegan and amazing.. and I'm not even a vegetarian.

<-- My face reading that. I'll keep that in mind, start being more careful with ingredients.

Well I'm a lacto-pescetarian so I still do dairy as well as seafood so I don't have too many issues. I just get a fish sandwich at a fast food place while my friends get burgers unless it's one of my best friends. She's a lacto-ovo-pescetarian so eating with her is even easier. My favourite place to go for vegetarian food though is out to the local Chinese restaurant because even before I stopped eating meat, I only got one thing that I don't get anymore and I stopped liking it anyway.

So easy places for me are
Wendy's- If I remember right they have a fish sandwich and I love the $1 baked potato
Chinese Buffet- Nuff said, lolz. But really, so many good seafood and vegetarian options
McDonald's- Also has a fish sandwich
And in most restaurants I get pasta dishes and if they only have ones with meat I ask to have it without the meat, like Chicken Alfredo without the Chicken, or I just get like a shrimp scampi.

In my city there are a couple of totally veggie cafes. Sky Apple cafe and Jack Sprats are both walking distance from my house. Although I'm not a vegetarian anymore. I used to be a really strict one and now I eat a little bit of meat. I'm considering going back to being a full vegetarian when I leave home.

I'm not a Vegetarian, but I know when I go to Indian buffets I hardly ever get anything with meat in it and the food is DELICIOUS.

Chipotle is a pretty popular veg. option as well.
