Unhappy He's an Angel Now - December 22nd 2013, 06:26 PM

I just discovered yesterday that my neighbor from my old house passed away. I didn't really know him very well, but I knew his wife and daughter. If I had known about it sooner, I would have attended the funeral, but I didn't find out until after. I want to do something to help his wife and daughter through this, but I'm not sure how. I'm just going to make a card and hand deliver it. I wrote this poem for them:

"ANGEL"
I just received the news today
And I don't know what to say
There are no words to help you through
This period of time, so sad and blue

I wish there were something I could say
To make your pain go away
But there is not much that I can do
To comfort and help you through

He is in God's kingdom now
Watching you, looking down
He's one of the angels today
Wishing he could take your pain away

This is a really beautiful poem.

I think that even the small things count when trying to help people grieve. It can be anything from offering to help them around their house or even making them a sort of "care package" with some nice things in it.

Really sorry to hear of his passing though!

I'm sorry for your loss, this is a beautiful poem, and I am sure they will love it.
Sometimes there is not much anyone can say or do to make someone who just lost a loved one, feel better.
Lots of people bring food, and stuff, I am sure they have enough of that.
I'm sure they will appreciate seeing you.

Hey, there!

First off, I'm so very sorry to hear about the recent loss you have endured. Losing anyone (even if you didn't really know them all that well) is a very hard thing to deal with.

On another note, I think that this poem is absolutely beautiful! In all honesty, taking the time out of your day and creating a very thoughtful and emotionally-driven poem goes to show what kind of person you really are: a very loving and caring one.

Stay strong, and continue to carry on being the amazing person you really are!

Best wishes,
Chris

Chris
I hope you know that you deserve it all. The best, the most honest, the most beautiful purest love in the world. Not only to be loved by others, but to be loved by yourself. To look in the mirror and think "Yes, I'm exactly who I want to be". To speak up and be proud of yourself. To be brave and open. You deserve the nicest and most caring people to walk into your life. You deserve it all, you know. The whole world...

That poem was very heartfelt, and I think something like that means a lot more than "I'm sorry for your loss". For the family, knowing that someone took time out of their life to write that will be truly appreciated.
