Grandma. <3 - January 26th 2010, 09:36 PM

I just found out my grandma has lung cancer. Yesterday the doctors said it was pnemonia and she would be fine, today, well today they sent her home to 'prepare' to die. I know I should spend time with her and all that, and I'm going to. But... I just.. I guess I am shocked. I dont...I dont even know what to say. I dont think I can handle another loss. I just can't.

Yesterday is history.
Tomorrow is a mystery.
Today is a gift.
That's why we call it the present.

I just lost my grandad, its hard, and horrible, but you have to stick together as a family, spend happy days together, dont dwell on the bad times.....you may cry and thats allowed, you will go through many emotions, but you will find that things do get easier.

PM if you need or want to chat?

You are strong and you can handle this. I understand how you feel. My Grandfather died from cancer, and it was so hard losing him, hard for my Grandmother...she moved out into a small apartment and going to visit her everyday when I was little was always so great and I enjoyed seeing her, when I turned 15 I found out she had a very bad case of Alzheimers and before that she had been showing some signs of it, staying with her son (My uncle) and my two cousins, his two sons. They had diagnosed her making her go to a Doctor and couldn't help her anymore and put her in a Nursing Home, but went to visit her everyday. She forgot who they were, she forgot who I was, forgot everyone, had very bad balance and fell one night so she had been in a wheelchair, and one day she went peacefully in her sleep. It was for the best, because she was in pain and was very unhappy, and was suffering.
It was devastating for me to lose my Grandmother of course, but at the same time it was a good thing because she was suffering so now her soul is at peace. I believe she is gone in some ways but not completely. When people go they live on in our hearts, our memories, and their spirits are always with us, watching over us. It helps me to know that and makes it not so sad and not so hard for me.
