Didn't even know them... - December 14th 2010, 12:59 PM

I work somewhere that inevitably , I'm going to see some death. This weekend I saw , for the first time ever , someone covered over , being taken away be the Undertakers , they had died during the night as far as I know. But I'm sure i've figured out who it was , but I didn't know them. If it was somebody I know quite well , I would of been in a worse state. I was just very glum and quiet for the day. It was a sad sight and I was less that a foot away when In was waiting for the lift and they wre in it at the time.
This is really dumb to be so sad about , but I am and I also know that i'll have to see again and again.
Any tips on how to cope with seeing this? Maybe you guys work in Hospitals , Care homes etc

I'm sorry that you had to see that. I can't imagine that the job you hold is an easy one. If it affects you so greatly, I would start by considering if it's right for you.

If you want to keep the job, I recommend having someone to talk to. Death is hard to deal with, whether you knew the individual or not, and a good friend who you can talk through your feelings with is imperative to the healing process. Another recommendation is journal about your feelings. That's something that helps me, even when I'm too embarrassed or scared to talk about something.

If it's in your inclination, you could always offer up a prayer or meditate. Whatever gives you comfort in difficult times.

Those are just some ideas. If you need someone to talk to, PM me anytime. I hope I could help a little and I hope this process is something you are able to work through and gets easier with time.

i am not my scars and my history
i am, i am, i am who i am...i am who i am.
there are true things inside of me;
i have been afraid to see.
