Unhappy Renewed grief - September 20th 2011, 11:57 AM

About two few years ago I lost one of my closest friends to a heroine overdose. I was 15 at the time, and for some strange reason I didn't feel I could come to my parents for help. And so I didn't. I was of course broken to pieces, and funeral didn't help much. The where only two people other than the priest. I you have ever been to a church you can imagine how big, and empty that feels. I couldn't even get her parents to show for the funeral. They said they didn't want to have anything to do with people like her.

The reason why I'm telling you this is that of late, the grief that i felt has returned, and I realize that I never did deal with the loss. I just pushed the sorrow under the rug, and tried to move on. It's seems that now I'm paying for that.

Hey there, I'm so sorry to hear about your friend. It's a tragic event to lose a loved one and it's extremely hard to get over. Maybe you can get some type of memorial item (such as a symbol of what she meant to you, or something she liked, or a joke that you two had) to keep with you or in your room. This will help you not "get over" her death, but come to terms with it and accept it AND always remember her. I have found that remembering good memories and looking back on the positives of a loved one's memory and life is a great way to accept one's passing. Again, I'm very sorry for your loss and if you need anyone to talk to, feel free to PM me. Take care & I hope I helped. <3

Grief is such a crazy thing - it happens over and over. My experience with it is that "this too shall pass", but you have to find something good to do for yourself. Self care, self care, self care. Maybe do something nice for yourself, and something to remember your friend. WHat happened in the past is gone, but you can shape how this will effect you in the future by doing good, healthy things to cope.

Pm me whenever <3
