Unhappy Friend losing his Mom - October 21st 2011, 01:42 AM

This thread has been labeled as triggering, particularly on the subject of death or grieving, by the original poster or by a Moderator. The contents of this thread might therefore not be suitable for certain sensitive users. Please take this into consideration before continuing to read.

My friend just lost his mom due to a stroke. She was a young woman. We all thought she was healthy. It was a huge blow. His father isn't much support right now. I've never been through this and I need help helping him through this. Any advice?

Hey there,
It's always a difficult time after someone passes away, especially when it's unexpected. This may sound super cliche, but honestly, just being there for your friend is the best thing you can do right now. Let him know that you're there for him right now, and be open to listening to him if he wants to talk about anything. Use your judgment to see when he wants space or when he needs a friend.

It's nice to see that you're putting an effort to help your friend through this hard time. A lot of people want to help but never do because they're either unsure of how to help or they don't want things to be uncomfortable. Honestly though, your friend will appreciate and remember what you've done for them. Hope this post helped a bit.

Take care. :]

Thank you so much. This has been a huge help. Mainly because I never know what to say in certain situations. Thanks!
