Angry WHY?! - October 27th 2011, 04:44 PM

My friend Chris committed suicide a few days ago and I just don't know what to do. His mom called me Sunday to tell me to come down to the hospital, he was already gone when I got there and I just broke down and sobbed like a baby. I just, I don't understand why he would do something like that, he always seemed like the happiest guy on the planet, but now he's gone and I can't stop breaking down. I went to the viewing the other day and when I got up to the casket I just balled all over again. My mom had to take me out of the room, it was too hard. He and I had been friends for so long. I don't know what to do now, I don't know how to handle this. He's the third friend I've lost since high school started and I just don't know how to get past this, it feels like someone is stabbing me in the chest over and over and I don't know what to do.

Oh, Krissy, I'm so sorry. I can appreciate your devastation.

I don't think there are any answers to a lot of the things you're (rightfully) questioning. Your Chris obviously had some secret emotional demons he was wrestling (unsuccessfully) with, he must have been very unhappy and very desperate. Sadly, this is more common than we think, it happens much more than we want to accept, but you already know this.

Sometimes, there aren't any good answers to help us make sense of tragedy, it makes it worse. Try to be extra nice to yourself, make sure you get a lot of TLC and support and help, if you need it. This is something that might never make sense to you, the goal now isn't to figure it out but try to grieve in a way that lets you rid yourself of the many emotions you have.

Oh Krissy, I so sorry for your lost.
I know what it is like to lost your best friend and to watch someone you love just dissapear.
Sometimes even the happiest looking people are the ones. That are dying inside. I shoud know, I'm one of those. We just got to love them and show them a light in there darkness. I lost my best friend who was like an older brother to me. Its been about 2 years, yet I still refuse to forget him. He lives through my memories. Don't forget your Chris. The pain maybe there but the memory of him wi remind you of the happy times and remind you that now he is not fighting with his probems.

to love someone is such a beautiful thing,
Keep it in your heart forever
And show it when you need to
