Can anyone recommend a good series of books? - April 29th 2012, 07:28 PM

Hey,
I've read the Twilight books, The Hunger Games and all the Harry Potter books... I am quite into fantasy books, so anything to do with Vampires etc, would anyone be able to suggest some series of books please.

I've tried reading the vampire diaries but didn't really grab me.

Thanks guys!

The Sookie Stackhouse books are good for vampires.

But I recommend A Song of Ice and Fire

If you want straight fantasy I'd go with Immortals, a series about a girl named Daine with an unusual kind of magic. The first book is called Wild Magic. It's amazing.

If you want to delve a bit into sci-fi, I'd suggest the series Cold Awakening, which is about a teen who dies and her father has her consciousness uploaded into a new technology- a body that allows her to move and talk, but it is made of metal and circuitry. The first book is called Skinned.

The Dark Elf Trilogy by R.A. Salvatore is good

And of course there is Lord of the Rings if you've never read it.

Pendragon is good. No vampires, but definitely scifi-ish & fantasy.

Peeps and The Last Stand are good. They are the only two books so it isn't really a series but it's about vampires or what they call 'peeps' and I enjoyed it quite a lot.

I'd second the recommendations of The Mortal Instruments and Immortals (or in fact anything by that author - she's one of my favourites). I'm not really into the whole vampire thing, so I can't help much there. But there's a series called Wicca/Sweep which is fantasy/young adult, so you might like it. You could try The Inheritance Cycle (just guessing here, having never read it myself - from what I've heard you'll either love it or hate it). If you want a bit of humour, try anything by Terry Pratchett. I love books (yes, I'm one of those people), so if you ever want more recommendations or anything, feel free to get in touch.

Daughters of the Moon. Not many people have heard of the series, but it's fantastic. It isn't about vampires, but it's definitely something worth checking out. If you want another set of vampire books, try the House of Night series.

Vampire Kisses- Ellen Schreiber
It is very different from the other vampire series that I've read.

Vampire Academy- Richelle Mead
When it comes to Vampire series, this one is definitely my favourite!

Try Sophie Kinsella's books. She has a Shopaholics series. The individual ones are pretty great too.

I think you'd love the Mortal Instruments series (City of Bones, City of Ashes...)

If you like vampire books, you should check out the House Of Night series by P.C. Cast and Kristin Cast...I remember being engulfed in each book and I just couldnt put any of the books down

You should try The Magician's by Lev Grossman, it's a lot like Harry Potter only, in my opinion...A little better? The second book is The Magician King, they're really good. I also recommend The Dark Hunter series by Sherrilyn Kenyon (There's a lot, let me warn you.) and maybe The Maze Runner, there's three books in that series, and they're a lot like the Hunger Games

I'd reccomend the Maximum Ride series by James Patterson. They are sooo good! I really need to read the last one. My favorite teacher loves the A Song of Ice snd Fire series by George R R Martin. Warning: song of ice and fire books are very very long and chance perspectives every few pages. There are like 30 different character's perspectives. I would print out a character list and keep it with you to try to keep them straight.
