Hello,

I'm not sure if the right thread prefix is correct, please feel free to change it.

Has anyone read the Hunger games series? If so, what did you think of it? Did you like the plot, the characterization, the concept?

I have to say that I loved the series all the way through. I wish there was more!

I thoroughly enjoyed the books. Luckily I managed to read them all before the movies were made. I agree with you, there should definitely have been more. Can't wait for the next film!

I really enjoyed the books but I remember feeling that some parts of them were a bit rushed though...could have possibly stretched into 4 books instead of 3 if somethings had been explained more.

I read the first book, it's good and simple. It was a long time ago though, so I can't compare it to any of my recent favorites...

I thought the books were awesome. However, the last book was so emotional that it threw me back into a depressive state. So you have to be in the right mood to read them because they can be upsetting. But besides that, I thought they were entertaining & kept me glued to the book.

Absolutely loved the first book - it's one of my favourite books of all time, and that's not a title I give to many things!!

The second book was all right, but I didn't love it quite as much.

I really didn't like the third book at all. So many people died that I just stopped caring, the whole thing was horribly depressing and I just lost all connection with the character of Katniss.

I love them! Everyone was making such a big deal about them last summer that I was like "Right, fine." so I read the first one on my kindle, got hooked, spent two days straight reading them, got horribly sunburned when I lost track of time, and sat up until 3am finishing the last one on the second day. Painful experience but so worth it for how much I enjoyed the books.
Although, I had to read the president-shooting bit twice before I got it. That was kinda strange.

Re: The Hunger Games Series - November 19th 2013, 06:51 AM

I've read all of them, and overall I enjoyed it. The first book was probably my favourite, and the third one kind of lost me a bit. I remember feeling dissatisfied when I finished the series, which is odd for me because normally I feel very strongly after finishing a series, even one as short as that, but I wasn't even that emotional. I feel like it might have been better if it was either cut off after the first book or if it had gone for more than three. Loved the concept, the characterisation was great, and I do intend to re-read them at some point; just felt a little let down by the ending, although I can't quite put my finger on why.

I honestly liked how the author characterized Katniss. I love how she learns to face her fears, and takes down the president! Everyone was using her, and that makes me sad.

Re: The Hunger Games Series - November 19th 2013, 09:20 PM

My absolute favorite part of the entire trilogy was the last line of Catching Fire. It was just so "ARE YOU KIDDING ME"
I only had to wait a few days to read the next one, I can't imagine reading it when it came out and having to wait a long time.

If the movie doesn't end like that I'm going to be disappointed.

Yeah, I know. I can't wait to see the movie on Netflics. I don't have the money to go see it in the theaters.
