Divergent Trilogy - January 4th 2014, 08:56 AM

This thread has been labeled as containing spoilers. The contents of this thread might therefore describe important elements of a storyline that could ruin it for you. Please take this into consideration before continuing to read.

I just finished the last book in the Trilogy and I was a bit ...surprised?...by the ending. I definitely didn't see that coming. I can't say that I am disappointed because I do like when books end with twists like that but it was kind of depressing to read. However, the book reminded me that there aren't always happy endings.

As a whole I was happy with the trilogy. I think I've read better books but I can't say I am overly disappointed like I have been with some books. So, I just wanted to get some other opinions on this trilogy.

I actually just finished the last book this morning and yeah, I'm with you. Strangely though, I think it was the right kind of ending for the book even though it cut pretty deep because it really reflected her selflessness and ...dedication?.. I suppose to her original faction and parents.

In my opinion I started to like the storyline less and less as the series went on but it was still pretty good. I'm kind of excited for the movie, but yeah, at the moment I think I'm suffering post-book depression from that ending

I could dwell on my problems... But I'd rather make a milkshake...

I went & bought the last book the day it came out then finished it soon after. Overall, I love the book series. It kept my interest a lot more than books have recently. I was a bit unhappy with the ending, mainly because I found it depressing, but as you said, there aren't always happy endings. I did like that Tobias was able to move on & let go in the very end though. Rather than ending his own life to be with Tris. That would have been worse.

I'm about halfway through the last book currently so I didn't read anybody else's posts in case they had spoilers in. I'll come edit/post again once I've finished it completely

So far I'm liking it, it's nice that it's from Tris and Tobias' perspective this time. I'm hoping it won't follow the trend of "Tris and Tobias live happily ever after and have lots of babies" like a lot of the Dystopian books tend to have *cough* Hunger Games *cough*

Have you guys read the ebooks about Four's backstory yet? It's a 4-part series but only one is available right now. So far it's really good

It's on Amazon, Barb. It's only in ebook format as far as I know but even if you don't have a Kindle you can download the Kindle for PC app to read it
