TH Book Club: September Selection - August 28th 2017, 04:09 AM

This will probably close next Sunday.

I have not read most of the books so there might be triggering content. I do not think that Percy Jackson had anything triggering (it is intended for middle grade) however I did read that quite a few years ago so I might not be remembering correctly.

Cinder is a young adult novel. It's possible that there might be some abuse? I think that it's kind of like a retelling of cinderella or something like that and so the step-sisters and step-mom might be quite mean? I could be wrong though since I have avoided spoilers.

Night Circus is an adult novel and I have heard some relatively good things about it but nothing in regards to triggering content.

A Wrinkle in Time was written quite a long time ago so it's possible there might be some triggering stuff but it's also intended for a younger crowd so I do not think that will be the case.

Re: TH Book Club: September Selection - September 2nd 2017, 02:14 AM

Looks like the winner is the night circus.

I have started this but only got 10 pages in (gotta love headaches)

I've talked to people who have read this book and they have said that it has a slow start and it's important to pay attention to the dates at the beginning of each chapter.

Thought I'd share.

Also, I am going to attempt to do this month's discussion differently. Instead of posting to the social groups, I will make a discussion thread around the 15th of September. That should give people a bit of time to read the book and if someone hasn't been able to get to it they would have two weeks to respond to the thread before it closed.

I am going to be doing threads for a few months. At least until December. If they get more responses than I'll continue doing the book club. If it still seems like not enough people are interested I will figure something else out.

I know there are numerous ways to do book clubs/buddy reads.
