Help me pick my next book! - May 10th 2018, 04:27 PM

I got this idea on youtube and I figured I would give it a try here. I have 3-4 books I want to read and so I figured I would let you all pick my the one I read. I'll try really hard to read it as I think my reading slump is getting better.

It might take me a while to get too and then finish the book. If I can keep up with it I might do this monthly as it would be fun to do and I figure you all might enjoy it.

Also, when I finish the book I will review it with no real spoilers. Mainly just to let you all know if it's a book worth trying etc.

The books are all fantasy and some of them are second in series. I'll list that it's a second and give the name of the first book so you can read what that is about without spoiling yourself or anything like that.

The novels are:

Shadows of Self - Second book and the first book is The Alloy of Law -
Gemina- Second book and the first book is Illuminae
The Poppy War
Thunderhead - Second book and the first book is Scythe
The Great Hunt

If a sequel gets picked I'll share a review of that and then discuss if the sequel is as good as the first one or if it is worth continuing

This will be closing in 5 days so on May 15th. I might finish my current book before then so I might start something different before this poll closes.

I've not read any of those books, but I like Brandon Sanderson as an author, and I enjoyed his first few Mistborn books; that's why I picked his book.

I honestly picked The Poppy War based on the title!

Thanks everyone for voting I will be reading the book sometime soon. I am in the process of reading another book so once I get that finished I'll jump into The Poppy War! I am actually really excited about that book and was hoping it would have the majority.

I am just updating this:

I have not read the pick yet but it's going to be one of the first books I read in June. I think if I continue doing this I am going to post it a month ahead. So, in June you'd all be pick one of my July picks. That way I have time to devote to the book. I am also doing it this way because the end of the month is upon us, I have book club reads and since I am starting work I want to get to one or both of them before then.

I also feel like doing the poll a month ahead will give people time to vote.
