Inspirational books. - June 27th 2018, 08:09 PM

Do any of you guys have good recommendations for inspirational non-fiction books?

I just need good, deep, philosophical thinking from influential people both past and present.

Two examples of these sort of individuals I can think of are Eleanor Roosevelt and Dr. Martin Luther King.

Thank you. I need these sort of books and positive vibes/thinking right now.

I don't read a ton of inspirational or self help books but I can suggest things I've either read or heard good things about. I might also suggest authors and you can pick books based off that.

Captivating by stasi and John Eldridge. It's Christian based. I'm not overly religious and found it helpful.
Wild swans by Jung Chang. It's pretty heavy but I felt the overall message was hopeful. It's long though.
The Color of Water by James McBride

Brene Brown
Mitch Albom

Books I've heard about:

Everything happens for a reason by Kate Bowler
Madam President: The extraordinary journey of Ellen Johnson Sirleaf by Helene Cooper (I have not read this but have heard good things about it. I should also note that your library might not have it. It's up in the air as mine doesn't so I will have to purchase this when I decide to read it)

Sorry it's not more extensive. You can Google inspirational books and then read reviews of books on goodreads or something similar.

I know these aren't 100% on what you are looking for but they might be worth looking into. Finding inspirational books about people from the past or present is hard. I know some past presidents have written books though.

Sometimes I have found famous people to be inspiring. I enjoy Ellen a lot. You could watch some of her stuff or read one of her books. If you like Ellen it might be something you can enjoy as she is very positive, has many amazing things to say and is funny.

If you enjoy writing or colouring, you can write your favorite inspirational quotes or sentences and put them up for you to see, you can always include photos next to them. It can bring happiness and inspiration.

One of my favorite poets that I am inspired from is Edgar Poe. To many it is too dark. Everyone has their own inspiration than another.

I hope I helped a little bit. I don't read too many inspirational books, I usually look outward to people I watch mainly (Ellen). If I come across a book that is inspirational I will post it here for you to check out. I think checking out Jenna's suggestions can be helpful, you might find something you like.
