ISO: new book - December 26th 2019, 11:07 PM

So I got an amazon gift card for Christmas. I'm looking for a few books about trauma so if you have any suggestions let me know! I've read most of Ellen Hopkins books and also Speak. I'd like fiction or memoirs but mostly fiction just trying to get my mind off of my own past trauma with hearing about a fictional one.

1. (of a person or animal) able to withstand or recover quickly from difficult conditions.
2. (of a substance or object) able to recoil or spring back into shape after bending, stretching, or being compressed.

We all possess resilience, we just need to realize it.

Girl Made of Stars by Ashley Herring Blake (I think)
Monday's Not Coming
Scared Selfless - Non fiction
The Falconer Series (It's fantasy but the second book does have some traumatic stuff mentioned and the characters deal with PTSD, sort of)
Things you Save in a Fire and How to Walk Away bg Katherine Center. They're romance books (I don't tend to like that genre) but the characters deal with traumatic stuff but the books are lighter due to the romance. I enjoyed them. They were fun but I also liked the way the author handled the topics.
Possibly Summer of Salt. It's a magical realism book.
The Poppy War - Fantasy but has a lot of traumatic stuff happen. Has heavy triggers for rape, abuse, self harm etc. Theirs a blog where the author discusses the triggers in depth. If I find it I'll come back and link it
The Astonishing Color of After is a possibility depending on the trauma. I believe the main characters mother kills herself and she deals with the after effects. It's magical realism.
Heart berries by Terese marie Mailhot
Girls Burn Brighter
I Stop Somewhere by T. E Carter
Buried Beneath The Boabab Tree
A Little Life. Exceptionally depressing. Very triggering doe abuse and there is self harm. It's a decent read but I'd avoid it if you are easily triggered. I don't get triggered by much and there were one or two parts that slightly triggered me
A Heart in a body in the World- I'll believe I wrote a review for this. I'll look for it and come back to link it.
White Stag

These are all the books I read this year that had some type of traumatic event and talked about characters having to cope. I didn't like all of these but I wanted to list them as reading is subjective. I really enjoyed a few of these such as Girl Made of Stars, Monday's not Coming, Scared Selfless, The Poppy War and The Falconer series.
