Have you ever been to a book tour? - November 4th 2009, 01:20 AM

I am seeing my favourite authors (Scott Westerfeld and Holly Black) this week on a book tour, and it got me thinking--is this normal? Do a lot of people get the chance to meet their favourite authors? Or is reading a more personal thing you do where you just keep the book to yourself and enjoy it at home, or maybe they just don't come to where you live?.

I love going to readings and things, but I have never been in close proximity to an author I know a lot about and whose work I read a lot.

So what about you? Have you met your favourite author? If you haven't, then who would you like to see and why?

ooo Holly Black! I'd love to meet her. Its really cool because my friend actually receives a letter from her every other month or so.

Ive never been to one but i would love to! I'd like to meet Janet Evanovich, Jennifer Roberson, Kelley Armstrong, Alice Borchardt, and Anne Bishop

Yesterday I saw you kissing tiny flowers
But everything that lives is born to die
And so I say to you that nothing really matters
And all you do is stand and cry.

My town has a massive literature festival every year, and I get to meet quite a lot of authors. Mostly just local Irish authors though, nobody famous. But they're lovely, and so passionate about what they do. Almost got to go meet Darren Shan during the summer, but something came up. My cousin met him, though. =]

There are a load of authors I'd love to meet, but unfortunately I'm a million miles away from where these things happen.

Authors have got to be the most down-to-Earth and easy people to talk to (other than scientists, who are also loads of fun). I met Scott Westerfeld, Keith Thompson (who is the illustrator for Scott's new novel) Holly Black, and Cassandra Clare yesterday night and I had a blast! They signed all of my books and took the time to actually talk to me It made me so happy that they actually loved and cared about what they did and didn't get all stuck up about their bestsellers. Such great people.

I'm definitely going to keep updated on book tours now. I haven't had that much fun in a long time.
