Harry Potter. I was 11 when the first book came out so I've grown up with that series and always looked forward to the newest book or movie.
Twilight is just too newfangled for me. |

No comparison. Harry Potter has morals and messages. Rowling created a unique world- Meyer took vampires and warewolves and dumbed them down for Tweens.
They're on completely different levels of literature. "Why isn't bull-riding (Beef NASCAR as I call it) the American sport to end all sports? It's an epic battle of the wills between a man and an angry cheeseburger; and if that doesn't typify our awesome civilization, I don't know what does." |

Harry Potter has a meaning behind it. Meyer's books are just meant to entertain teen girls (and certain guys...). They're not even well written.
Harry Potter is being taught in schools, for goodness' sake! They're so far above and beyond Twilight, it's not even fair to ask them to be compared. That's like comparing something like Eragon to The Lord of the Rings "Why isn't bull-riding (Beef NASCAR as I call it) the American sport to end all sports? It's an epic battle of the wills between a man and an angry cheeseburger; and if that doesn't typify our awesome civilization, I don't know what does." |

"Both Rowling and Meyer, they’re speaking directly to young people… The real difference is that Jo Rowling is a terrific writer and Stephenie Meyer can’t write worth a darn."
Thank you Stephen King. I'd be inclined to disagree with some though, that the difference between Harry Potter and Twilight is that Harry Potter has messages. Twilight does have messages, just anti-feminist ones you would never want someone absorbing. Not around so much now that school's started "Live a good life. If there are gods and they are just, then they will not care how devout you have been, but will welcome you based on the virtues you have lived by. If there are gods, but unjust, then you should not want to worship them. If there are no gods, then you will be gone, but will have lived a noble life that will live on in the memories of your loved ones." Marcus Aurelius |

Twilight is completely overrated. I read the first book; hated it. Saw the first movie; hated it. Hearing about New Moon and hating it. Hating everyone's obsessions over something that isn't as revolutionary as everyone's making it out to be... wow. Plus, the book was written terribly. Don't know about the other three but if the first one is I can bet you the other three are as well.
Harry Potter's pretty good. In comparison to Twilight, Harry Potter is the bible (if I was religious). "We all become important when we realize our goal should be to figure out our role within the context of the whole." Alright, no need to fight cause everybodys different and theres nothin you can do about it and just because I dont look like you or act like you it doesnt make me any better or worse |

Twilight!!
I've seen some of the Harry Potter movies, but to be honest, they bore me. I love the love story of Twilight. ![]() ~*Edward Cullen: Bringing sexy back since 1901*~ ~ One day, the right person will come into your life and make you realize why it never worked out with anyone else ~ |

Anything or Twilight? -> Anything
![]() Seriously though, Harry Potter is great on its own merits, and doesn't need to be compared to Twilight to make it look good. The atoms that make up you and me were born in the hearts of suns many times greater than ours and in time our atoms will return once again to reside amongst the stars. Life is but an idle dalliance of the cosmos, frail, and soon forgotten. We have been set adrift in an ocean whose tides we are only beginning to comprehend, and with that maturity has come the realization that we are, at least for now, alone. In that loneliness, it falls to us to shine as brightly as the stars from which we came.

Harry Potter. There is just no comparison.
Twilight was very well written, if you look at it from a marketing perspective. Basically, any girl can relate to Bella because she is an empty, personality-less slate. The singular draw of the book is reading it to imagine being with Edward or Jacob. Ummm... Get a real life and a real boyfriend? And Harry Potter? A classic book. Fun to read and well-written. Just such a cool story with interesting twists and turns. The movies are great too. ~Cody

Harry Potter for the reading: I like to be absorbed in the middle of the adventures. Twilight for the characters. Honestly; which one would you chose: Harry Potter or Edward/Emmett/Carlisle/Jasper/Jacob? Hermione or Rosalie/Alice/Esme/Bella?
I love Twilight as well for the bad characters. I mean, Sneap and Voldi suck, they die. James dies as well, but he's pretty and Aro still lives. Volturi rules! |

*sigh* Honestly, the only reason why most people hate Twilight is because of all the attention it's getting now and the annoying fan girls following after it. Just because the movie sucked doesn't mean you should hate on the books. I think the first three books were really good, but the fourth one pretty much sucked. Yeah, the writing isn't anything grand, but who cares? All books don't have to be, sometimes it's nice to read something that isn't shoving morals or messages down your throat, just something nice to entertain when you need an escape.
My pick is still for Harry Potter though, just because it is something so different and original. I love Rowling's style of writing and how she's able to paint such a clear picture of everything and make you feel like you're actually living it. "If we make it through, And I can save you With this heart I know, I will carry us home." |

Harry Potter FTW, although I do agree that they are on completely different levels. Harry Potter is a book anyone to any age can read (and was written WAY better!) and Twilight is really for the tweens and is quite unimaginative.
Who do you carry that torch for, my young man?
Do you believe in anything? Or do you carry it around just to burn things down? Meet me tonight on the turnpike my darling, where we believe in everything. If we sweat all these debts then we're sure to drown, so let's strap ourselves up to this engine now with our God who we found laying under the back seat. |
