A Bright Red Scream-Marilee Strong - June 19th 2011, 12:26 PM

This thread has been labeled as triggering, particularly on the subject of self harm, by the original poster or by a Moderator. The contents of this thread might therefore not be suitable for certain sensitive users. Please take this into consideration before continuing to read.

So I'm reading this right now and I find it incredibly interesting. It takes the concept of abuse triggering self-mutilating behaviors in the future to a whole new level. And the insight from people who actually self harm makes it easy to relate to. Anyone else read it?

"Once a little boy sent me a charming card with a little drawing on it. I loved it.
I sent him a card and I drew a picture of a Wild Thing on it. I wrote,
“Dear Jim: I loved your card.”
Then I got a letter back from his mother and she said, “Jim loved your card so much he ate it.”
That to me was one of the highest compliments I’ve ever received. He didn’t care that it was an original Maurice Sendak drawing or anything.
He saw it, he loved it, he ate it."

No, but i would like to read it ... Link???x

It serves a lot of functions in my life. I use it as a way to punish myself, I use it as a way to medicate myself, I use it for the tension release when things get too strong or too built up. –ditto

Faking a smile like always

http://www.amazon.ca/Bright-Red-Scre...8691484&sr=8-1 I'm thinking of buying it. It's really good and I feel I might be able to absorb more of the information in it if I can read it over a few more times.
