Re: How do you write an autobiography? -

I think you should organize it by whatever feels logical to you. When you think back on your life, do you see it broken into different "chunks". An autobiography can be organized in so many different ways, so do whatever feels right for you.
Also, keep in mind that if you choose a way of organizing it and end up not liking that, you can always go back and change it. Blackbird singing in the dead of night Take these broken wings and learn to fly. All your life You were only waiting for this moment to arise. ♥the Beatles ![]() Tumblr |

You should organize it in anyway you want because it is your autobiography at the end of the day and like said, if you're not happy with how you've organized, you can always change it around at the end till you're happy.

Mostly it's organized by passage of time, or time era in your life. For instance let's for example use a fake actor.
Part I: Early life Part II: Early carrer. Part III: Role on "Happy times" television series Part IV: Movie career Part V: Future. That's a very rough outline, but as you can see it goes in a very chronological order, showing a rouge passage of time. - Justin ![]() |

I bet you could find tons of descriptive and instructional tutorials on writing autobiographies on Google! And you'd definitely find a few good examples that may even be slightly relative to your life.

I'm seeing a lot of 'however you want it,' so I'm gonna try and give you different input.
![]() Why don't you try to put the things in periodic order? (earliest years to latest years). That way, the reader can feel like he/she is going through your life in order. Bigger events can take up more room if you want, that way the reader knows these events are more important. Good luck! Carpe Diem: Seize the Day/Moment.

I'm also thinking of writing an autobiography, and I want to do it in the same way Jeanette Walls did when she wrote The Glass Castle. She took snippets and stories from her life and made them into small essays in no particular order. It wasn't chronological by any means but it sure made for interesting and powerful writing.
"Once a little boy sent me a charming card with a little drawing on it. I loved it. I sent him a card and I drew a picture of a Wild Thing on it. I wrote, “Dear Jim: I loved your card.” Then I got a letter back from his mother and she said, “Jim loved your card so much he ate it.” That to me was one of the highest compliments I’ve ever received. He didn’t care that it was an original Maurice Sendak drawing or anything. He saw it, he loved it, he ate it." |
