I'm in the mood to read someone's biography right now, but I'm not sure who's. I like to read biographies about eccentric people or people who have made a difference in the world. I dunno. Super historical stuff isn't really my thing.

Let me know if you have any good suggestions!

Okay, I'm loving some of these suggestions!
Chris, your list gave me a lot of people to think about. I'm definitely going to check a couple of those biographies out.

Do you like to read biographies of maybe not famous people or such, but like diaries? For example, I just finished a book which was a diary of a girl who was addicted to LSD.

But I do agree that Anne Frank was interesting. I read the diary in the 5th grade & it was good.

I love stuff like that. Are you talking about Go Ask Alice? That's such a powerful book.

I'm not really a reader of history either, but I have to recommend "Miss Spitfire: Reaching Helen Keller" by Sarah Miller. I couldn't put it down.

The Glass Castle By Jeannette Walls is perfect! When I mean perfect, I mean perfect-- Although it is not a biography, it is a memoir about an eccentric family told by a girl with brilliant, charismatic, and free-spirited parents. Brilliant memoir

It's written about a teenage boy's addiction to crystal meth, written by his father. There's another book similar, written by the boy himself. I think that one is called "Tweak". I haven't read that one yet though.

I recently read the biography of Marilyn Monroe and really enjoyed it.

I also think 'Can't anyone help me?' by Jackie Holmes & Toni Maguire is a great book. However if you're easily triggered by abuse I wouldn't recommend it.
Quote:
Jackie was an unwanted child. So unwanted that her mother regularly left Jackie at her uncle's house. Which was when the nightmare started. For when his wife went out, her uncle's friends came round. He had a Special Room. In it Jackie was tied up and molested, beaten, burnt by cigarettes and urinated on. Sometimes other children were brought along. Jackie got to know the Special Room intimately. Jackie could never bring herself to tell her mother. She ended up in a home for disturbed children. She ran away, and a life of homelessness, drugs, prostitution and psychiatric wards followed.Eventually, Jackie sought help. But could she turn her life around? Would her evil uncle and his Special Room haunt her forever? Can't Anyone Help Me? is the inspirational story of struggle and survival against all odds as one young woman attempts to put her torturous past behind her and make a future for herself.

AH OMG. I love, love, love those books. Tweak is even better than Beautiful Boy. And the Glass Castle is perfect as well. You should definitely read Angela's Ashes by Frank McCourt. I just reread it and it's honestly such a great true story. It's about the author's poverty-stricken upbringing in Ireland. It's so funny but it's depressing as hell at the same time.

"Once a little boy sent me a charming card with a little drawing on it. I loved it.
I sent him a card and I drew a picture of a Wild Thing on it. I wrote,
“Dear Jim: I loved your card.”
Then I got a letter back from his mother and she said, “Jim loved your card so much he ate it.”
That to me was one of the highest compliments I’ve ever received. He didn’t care that it was an original Maurice Sendak drawing or anything.
He saw it, he loved it, he ate it."
