Angry Why are teachers bias? - April 27th 2012, 11:04 AM

The local school say they have a strict NO BULLYING rule, but when other people come to me making fun of my anxiety attacks or for being in foster care, they never get into trouble if I walk away and tell a teacher, but if I retaliate with words and they run to a teacher I'm always in trouble. A few times, well more then a few I've lost my temper and gotten into a fight with them, they get off with 'don't do it again' I'm suspended for a couple of days or get dentention or a call to my foster parents or social worker. Today is the first time I'm back at school since my brother was taken away because of drug abuse and it got out of hand. A group of year 10's came up to me before class and one said "even your brother couldn't stand the sight of you so he had to shoot up so he didn't have to look at you'' I lost my temper and told them to fuck off, i tried to walk away but one of the girls grabbed my hood and said "we aint done talking to you" I punched her and ran off.

In my 2nd period I got called to the office, the headmaster says my behaviour was disgraceful and I shouldn't of punched a student when she only asked a question about my brother, I lost my temper and stormed out of the office, the secretary tried calming me down and it worked to an extent, she told the headmaster that she will send me alone when I was ready and my guardian was present.

I went back into the office once my foster mum got here, even though I told the truth, the headmaster said "we have your record from when you lived with your parents, your school record isn't the best and your story doesn't match the other 4 witness's" I admit it isn't the best because of the stress I was under and I've always had trouble with bullies even when I lived with my parents and with the work at school, but the witness's is the girl's friends so obviously they aren't going to rat her out.

Bottom line I'm suspended till Wednesday.

Why are teacher's bias? I try hard in school and work as hard as possible, I've never truant and its always the same group that are bothering me and they are not exact angels, atleast I try in school while they think its a way to socialise and gossip.

Because teachers are human too? Sadly, not all teachers act as open-minded and professional as they should. Even if you did what they said you did, I believe they are handling it all wrong. I mean, come on, suspending a kid for getting upset at a sensitive subject is pure bull shit. Your situation is stressful, even without the bullies, and i wouldn't be surprised if a person would act out because of it. Normally it is a sign of help, not a true trouble maker.

I'm sorry hun. Just stay strong until the meantime? Maybe try working on your anger issues, its not fair to yourself to let them get you so rivalled up. They dont deserve the effort you give them. They want you to get all pissed off so you can get in trouble. Don't give them what they want. I know it is hard to just wak away, definitely when they say such cruelthings and grab you, but it would be best for you to try shrugging it off. There are always going to be assholes out there provocking you, that's why you can't take the bait. You deserve better treatment.

Maybe try using that social worker to your full advantage. Have you talked to him/her about getting help on your anxiety problems? Sometimes approaching a teacher/ect about wanting help can make the teacher/ect very impressed and willing to help you more.it sounds like you've been through a lot too! I mean, I got bullied a lot in elementary school and needed to get counseling back then for it. Not are you harrased, but you also been through foster care, which is a hard experience, and you just lost your foster brother because of drugs. That's enough stress to completely overwhelm someon. You must be very strong and determined to be doing so well! Good job! Don't let the negatives in your life drag you down, and thats why you don't have to keep being strong by yourself, you deserve someone to help you and maybe your social worker can help out find the proper help you deserve.

Do you have any friends that might be able to walk with you I between classes? Sometimes strength in numbers can help you at least handle the situation in a way that is more helpful for yourself, or maybe even make those nasty bitches less likely to say something. Don't give them the chance to harass you! If you can't always have a friend nearby, maybe try talking to your teacher/social worker about getting an escort orleaving class early/late. If you say it in a way that you want to better yourself and try to avoid the conflict, they might take you more seriously and help. For "trouble" kids, some teachers jump to the conclusions, like how you are looking for trouble or wanted to fight. If you make it clear in a mature way that you don't want to be in that situation and that you are trying to look for more mature solution. It might help.

I'm sorry you have to deal with this hun! You sound like an amazing young lady, you are just having a stressful time. Those girls were WRONG with what they said to you. Your brother had a problem, an addition. It happens to some of the best people. You are no where close involved with his reasoning for doing drugs or him being taken away. Somethings are just out of your control. It is sickening that those older girls would say that to you.... honestly I wish I could bitch them out for you, I hate it when I hear stuff like that. It's just like WTF sensitive subject that those bitches could NEVER understand. They are just stuck up spoiled brats hun that think they are the hottest thing when they aren't. They are only 10th grades and you are defi itely more mature than them. Don't let them get to you, they are clearly messed up inside for saying such cruel things. Let them be to ruin their own lives, it sounds like they are going down a negative path that they are choosing themselves anyways. You, though, you are so strong! Keep on fighting (metaphorically) for a better life! Things will get better, I promise! You are young and have so much potential. Just wait and watch, things will get better!

I'm sorry you're in such a stressful situation. I definitely understand; when I was in middle school I was bullied and beaten mercilessly, and I never once tried to hit them back or retaliate, I just went to the office. Even when I had bruises and cuts, they never believed a word I said or bothered to check cameras. More often that not I got in trouble for being bullied when I did nothing. Even teachers bullied me. I don't understand why so many schools have become like this, and it really needs to change, but unfortunately so many people just ignore the issue. I'm very sorry this has happened to you, and I can honestly say I know what it's like, but I really think your first step should be to find other ways to vent your anger. I know it's hard and you want to get mad at the bullies, but as you've seen, it will get you in trouble and they will walk. Try to keep calm when these things happen, and next time something like this occurs I would suggest you have your guardian make a request to have the cameras reviewed. The cameras don't lie. If this kind of thing with the bullies and school officials continue, I would go to the schoolboard with it. If it still doesn't improve, do what you have to do, honestly I'd go to the media and tell them thee's bullying at your school and it's ignored. More times than not that makes the school sit up and listen.

I am in the middle of being diagnosed with some kind of disorder, they believe its bipolar but then other things make them believe its something else. I'm on normal medication for depression and anxiety and a small dose of a mood stabiliser but it isn't helping much. I tried to walk away this time, but the girl grabbed my hood, I don't like being touched. I don't have any friends, I'm in foster care and its hard to get settled, I don't like to make friends incase they move me to a new family or group home and I have to leave quickly. People just don't understand when I have to up and leave, I don't even get much warning so I can't warn them that I will be leaving.

Get a voice recorder. Most can record for quite a long time without running out of space. Keep in on, record the school day from start to finish, since you never know when these assholes might jump at you.

Then when they try telling a bunch of lies to the teachers, or when the teachers are talking bullshit, play back the recording and make them fucking choke on it. It's best if you collect a large amount of "evidence" before you make it known what you are doing. Don't "show-off" your voice recorder, don't tell anyone about it. Just let it be a surprise. A mobile phone with good quality recording is also useful. If they fail to do anything, threaten them that you'l go to the school district. It worked with my school. The jerkbags then shut up and actually did their job. Be smarter than them. For every problem, there is a solution. Action, reaction. Winners and losers. If you don't want to be a loser, then do something about it. DO it. Then come back here and boast about your success story. I'd love to hear it.

But don't if you're easily triggered. If you're not easily triggered then go ahead.
