Peer Pressure and Bullying Social pressure can take many different forms, including intimidation, bullying and even physical attacks. If you feel you could be a victim or perpetrator (who wishes to stop) of bullying, talk about it here.

Unhappy little things - a long time - February 13th 2011, 01:04 PM

i've been getting comments made about me for years - as long as i can remember actually. in primary school it was acceptable to cry and tell a teacher, and because by year 6 i'd been there for a long time, i started standing up for myself because i knew how far people would take things and what was safe to say or do.

however, now i'm in high school and the comments have gotten worse and a lot of the time they really bring me down. i'll get comments like 'wow she's fat' as i walk past, which does WONDERS for my confidence as you might agree ;/

Problem is, even though i'm on my last year, people at this age take things far enough for you to get hurt. ALOT. so if i stick up for myself there's no doubt i'll end up getting hurt or something else. so basically, on the bus or at school, the comments and the fact things keep getting thrown at me, are making me paranoid of people in general. i dont like crowds or being alone with people i dont know well. i generally dont like people as i've said in previous threads. i dont like the way i feel after a day of harsh mumbles and comments to friends, and i dont like how people seem to have provate jokes about me, so they can come over to me, say hi, then make a weird noise that makes their friends laugh at me (happened on friday). i just wish i knew how to make myself feel better, because i honestly dont care what people i think of me, so i dont know why i get so down over it all.

Hey Hollie,
It's horrible when people put others down and is unacceptable, as you've said it hurts feelings. Everyone is beautiful so don't listen to what those people are saying, because they're wrong.
Bullying is always a horrible experience, you should talk to a teacher or a family member? So that it can be sorted out and stopped- no one deserves to be bullied.
Feel free to PM me if you want to talk
Take care
Charli :-)

Hey there,

I am so so sorry that you have been bullied a large portion of your life. It absolutely appalls me that people who are almost adults are still participating in childish games. I think if I were you I would report all the things that constitute as bullying. I know that a lot of people claim that that doesn't work. The key to reporting, is to keep reporting. Report every little thing. Make it seem like the big deal it really is. If you don't make it seem like a big deal, then to others, it won't be. Now obviously we can't control the actions of others, but understanding why they do this is a whole other story. The reason why people bully you is probably not even personal.

Bullies do things for multiple reasons. Some people bully to impress their peers, or to get into certain cliques. Other people are just depressed, and that's their way of coping. It all depends on the person. It's usually not about the victim personally. I've always found that keeping that in mind is always helpful.

I think that you, almost being done with school can take the next step as a fresh start. If you have plans for the future then create a life for yourself. You deserve to be happy. For now, just keep reporting things. Try to remove yourself from the situation as much as possible. Maybe join a club or a sport to stay in a safe place. Also, try and make some friends so they can help you through this rough time.

Hope this helped!
Pm me if you ever need me!
