People make fun of my name

I didn't know where to post this so sorry If Its In the wrong place

Anyways..In the past loads of people have made fun of my full name and they'll say It In funny voices sometimes like they're laughing at me/my name
I've always had emails before making fun of my name!
I won't say what It Is on here because of how horrible it is plus privacy
but It really gets me down that even as a teenager some people still like to laugh/make fun of it...and it isn't just the same people any advice please??

Just so you know, your name is nothing to be ashamed of. It's something to pride yourself of, and I take it it's uncommon, so that's something to be happy about. It shouldn't get you down. What you're called is a form of identity, and if people are low enough to make fun of you over that, they aren't worth it. Seriously, keep your chin up, it's nothing being sad over!

well think of it this way... your parents put alot of time into thinking up your name. be proud of it. and if its ur last name...i have the same problem. mine isnt very good...and ppl do make fun of it, but ur a girl, so when u get married u can change ur last name

I've been made fun of for my name a lot of times. Sometimes my first name, others it was my last name, depending on how much of an jerk the person was it was both. I used to absolutely HATE my name bacause (1) NO ONE could pronouce it correctly, EVER (2) people harrassed me constantly with really stupid nicknames and jokes -back then i didn't realize that the jokes/nicknames were stupid, i just knew they were being mean- and i got so upset because of it. Often, i thought about changing my name. Even though i hated my name, i got so many compliments on how pretty my name is and all i thought was "are you crazy? my name sucks." but now, I LOVE MY NAME bacause it is different and special. Forget the people who make fun of your name. Your name is special, unique, different and beautiful and don't let them tell you any different

The best thing to do is to try and be proud of your name. It sounds like its unique, so next time someone makes fun of you, put a smile on your face and flaunt it! Once people see that you love it, they will stop teasing you I promise. If you just go along with it and agree that it is dumb, they will continue to say it.

I agree with finding a nickname if that doesn't work. Or maybe go by your middle name?

I had some people make fun of my last name and in school it wasn't that offensive, kind of funny actually. I embraced the silly name but eventually it got a bit annoying because I wanted substitute teachers to at least know what my last name truly was. I simply made fun of the last names of the people who made fun of my name, got them annoyed and explained while laughing at them how it feels.

The time it annoyed me the most was outside of school at a gym where a father began to make fun of my last name and got his son to join in. It wasn't difficult to get the father to stop, I went where the other adults were, had him make fun and exaggerated how "hurt" I was. I went to this area because I knew some of the adults already as we joked around already. It took a few times and constantly increasing my exaggeration, although the father did give me a solid punch to the face (keep in mind I was around 15-16 years old). This resulted in the other adults, some of whom I didn't know standing up for me and I got to be friends with "Big Mike", who was in his early-30s, very tall and muscular, known to go in underground fights, had a nasty temper once you pissed him off and his name was Mike. The father continued when other adults were not around but the threat of me telling others made him stop.

This can work for you, get those people to make fun of your name, break down emotionally (exaggerate if needed) in front of older students and you'll get sympathy from some of them. Don't run up and ask them to help, just express how much the person is emotionally hurting you in front of them.

The son of the father had a short fuse and he wasn't particularly annoying because he made fun of my name for a bit, then I did it back and he always went berzerk. You may get this same reaction when you make fun of the others.

I suggest making fun of the others and/or laughing while embracing the name they call you. Laughing at it allows you to maintain some pride in your name and be less hurt by the silly names they call you. I don't recommend telling a teacher or adult because it likely will increase or not change what you already experience.

I suggest telling someone! It's not ok for people to be bullying you, and you should not be protecting them by not! Also your name is nothing to be ashamed of, be proud of who you are and if you have a unique name, Congratulations! I'm jealous of you!!!

I hate to tell you this, but people just like to make fun of other people for various reasons. For you, it's your name. For others, it's that they wear funky glasses or have a strange hairstyle. Every single person on this planet is made fun of for something....so keep this in mind if you stop this problem. They'll just find something else. If you like your name, don't let other people bother you about it. Go along with what they say...could even turn into something great! I know a guy named James Creme (pronounced Crimmie) and they used to call him Jimmie Creme in school to make fun of him. He used that to his advantage for his business - everyone can remember his name so he gets a ton of clients and therefore a ton of money!

And if you still don't feel better, consider this. My uncle went to school once with someone who was the perfect target for teasing. His hair was messed up and he wore glasses and your typical nerd clothes from back in the day...and he was short and skinny. His name. Dorkus. And it gets worse. His full name? Dorkus Clapsaddle. No matter what you do, no matter what your name is, in no way could it be worse than that. So be grateful!

My last name is Pickering. Ever since primary school, people have called me things like: pickernose. My aunt said that she used to get called that all the time in her school, too. I didn't let it get to me, at all after that, because i realised that it's just a name. Whatever your name is and how others interpret it, it is not a reflection as you as a Person. You didn't choose the name, and your actions did not inspire it.

People find a way to make fun of any name. Even if yours is particularly funny it would get made fun of anyway. I have Justin as a first name, and my last name is something of a traditional Russian/Polish last name. I somehow manage to get made fun of. Don't be offended, usually it's just teasing or people to stupid to think of real insults. Keep your head up.

Oh and on the topic of funny names, my mom's dad's name was Ronald McDonald and he had red hair. Imagine.

Personally, I'd rather name my kid something else; something different from the rest of the crowd.

Don't feel down cause that name you've got is setting you apart from the crowd. You should be happy you weren't named something generic like say Jessica or Sarah for example (no offense to those with those names, you get my point).

People will remember your name, and that's a good thing!

I know you've probably heard it all already (I only read the first post) but just ignore them and take pride in your name. Just because some people are immature enough to make fun of it doesn't mean you should let it get to you. Not everyone is going to do it, eventually you'll meet people who think it's an amazing name and will love it.

I agree with all the other posters. Be proud of your name and don't let them get you down. It's awesome to have a name that's unusual and I bet they're just jealous of how epic your name is.

But really. My cousins have given me lots of stupid names over the years including: Louis, Tom the cabin boy, and Hobby Chickenseed.
People used to call me cheese and ham because it rhymed with my full name. You're always gonna get people who don't agree with what or who you are or what you think and who will make fun of you for that. But you're the only you there is. And that there ever will be. So be proud of that and don't let them make you feel any less than completely beautiful and special with a really amazing name.

Use your name as a talking point! Flaunt it! Those people making fun of you are obviously just envious because they don't have a name as original as yours!

Don't worry, I've been there. My full name is Victoria, and people always ask me if I have a secret. Also, other things to do with my last name, but I'm not going to put it on here.
