Do I take a stand? - August 23rd 2011, 08:43 PM

ok so i'm gonna be kinda quick: i got kicked out of colorguard because of some fighting between people and now i am fighting to get back in. Well today i had a meeting at the school and while there i saw colorguard people and they were all giving me weird looks and glaring and avoiding me, and now its up to me if i want to join colorguard again and i want to but they all like hate me now and i'm gonna have a meeting with the colorguard team to share my side of the story and i'm also gonna confront them about not acting like a team and everything but idk if i want to! What to you think i should do? I really want to show them that i'm not gonna hide, i'm actually gonna confront them! What are your thoughts?

So, I guess we are who we are for a lot of reasons. And maybe we'll never know most of them. But even if we don't have the power to choose where we come from, we can still choose where we go from there. We can still do things. And we can try to feel okay about them.

I say go for it!

Why should you let them stand in the way of your participation in Colorguard?

I think you're being very mature about it by having a meeting to share your side of the story and confront them about their team-playing (or lack of). I hope the meeting goes well. Just remember to remain calm and that the objective is to make the team stronger.

I'm sure once they realise that you're on their side and want to make the team work, they will cooperate. At any rate, they should respect you for standing up for yourself instead of running away.

Take care and let us know how it works out.

I would say to take a stand but if you want to get back in again, you may not want to point fingers at them for being at fault as it shows you threaten the social harmony. I do think they should hear your side of the story though because even if they still refuse to allow you back in, they can at least try to figure out solutions to some of the problems. While confronting them about not working as a team can point out some problems to be remedied, it may force others to perceive you as being against them, creating a "you vs them" scenario rather than a "we are a team" scenario.

I can rip you off, and steal all your cash, suckerpunch you in the face, stand back and laugh. Leave you stranded as fast as a heart-attack.

Hi there,

If you enjoy colourguard then continue to go to it. Who's fault is it if they try and avoid you and give you weird looks? It's their problem, not yours. If you're going to confront them, then it's best to do it in a polite way; no arguments, just state how you feel and walk away from them. If the perpetrators try and cause a fight to get you kicked out of Colourguard, talk to the people who lead it and they should sort it out for you.

I hope this has helped.

Just keep following the heartlines on your hand.

I think you should go for it. Most people hate me in band and yet I love it so much I won't back down. Its not fair to make someone just sit behind and just watch the rest of the group move on when you belong there. Stand up for yourself. You could gain more confidence! Show them that you care. Taking a stand is one step closer to a better future!

Its totally up to you to decide if its worth it to you. No one else can make you do something if you do not want it enough! I'm sorry that they are doing these things to you. It seems awfully childish and I would not want to deal with it either. Although if you care about it enough and still want to go for it, then by all means do! Good luck!

I think you should confront them and continue in Colorguard if you really want to do that. However, confront them in a positive yet strong way. Make your point known but in a polite way. If you seem harsh, things may not get better. Plus, are the looks really bothering you? If you love Colorguard so much, why not just do it and ignore the idiots who "hate" you? Just enjoy what you enjoy. I wish you luck. xx
