Why do people not like me?! =(

For some reason, people in my school don't like me. All except a few. A very small few. So here's my story:

I come from a small school. Very small compared to many. It is a pre-kindergarten to eighth grade school. I'm in the eighth grade and there is only one class with 17 people in it. I've been with most of them since pre-k. All but about 4 don't really like me, but I don't even know why! I don't talk to anyone from my class outside of school because none of them WANT to talk to me outside of school! And I only talk to 3 out of the 4 on the bus. The other one is like my friend in class and I talk to her in the hall and at lunch. She is the only other person at my lunch table other than me. Her name is Jamie.

I just want friends. I want to make friends. I don't know how. I try to be nice. I try to be not annoying. I don't know what's wrong with me. Is it because I'm not a twig? Is it because I have an acne problem and can't afford a dermatologist or a facial? Is it because I'm annoying?

Please just someone tell me how to make friends or what you would want your friend to be because being myself is obviously not helping anything.

First off, you need to like yourself before anyone else will like you. If you don't love yourself, if you don't have confidence in how you look, and WHO you are, then people will walk right over you and treat you badly.

I think you need to start accepting who you are - and embrace it.

I also think you need to start getting more active. I bet you leave school and go home and rarely hangout with people outside of school. That needs to stop. To build friendships, you need to be socially active. Join groups in school, join groups out of school, start hanging out with friends from school AFTER school. The only way to build friendships is to put yourself out there so that people can know more about you, and so that you give them a chance to hangout with you.

If this doesn't work - which I'm 100% sure if you are more socially active it will; but luckily you have High School coming up. One tip of advice for high school, be active. Don't start high school not active because you will have even bigger friendship problems.

Alright, thanks. I'll try. Today I attempted talking to the people. It worked alright. I think I'm gonna try to get everyone's number and whatnot to communicate outside of school. I've known most of them for like 10 years now.

Thats good. I just want to mention that you will have bad days with being an active communicator, and good days. So don't give up when someone doesn't respond the way you want them too - thats just part of dealing with people; different characters, personalities, and most importantly they may be in a bad mood. So don't take things to heart sometimes!

The sad part about smaller schools is once you have a label or status sometimes it's hard to shake it. People may not want to talk to you because they view you a certain way and that is that. You did say you tried talking to some people and it went alright. Don't do too much too fast. Ease into talking to people. Maybe they just don't even know you for you despite how much you've been around them.

Maybe even they are feeling shy or awkward....so i think you should go and talk to them...freely....and just give it a try....all the best!
