Unhappy I'm a victim of cyberbullying...(Several triggers...) - January 30th 2012, 03:56 PM

This thread has been labeled as triggering, particularly on the subject of eating disorders, by the original poster or by a Moderator. The contents of this thread might therefore not be suitable for certain sensitive users. Please take this into consideration before continuing to read.

I am a victim of cyberbullying. I've gotten several comments on YouTube videos saying how ugly I am, that I look anorexic, and I've got people actually threatening me. I have nobody to talk to about it because they all say to ignore it. I can't ignore something like this. I don't know how to report people, and even if I did, they would probably tell me the same thing. People handle things differently, and I am extremely sensitive, so people shouldn't tell me to just "get over it" or to just ignore it. I really need help trying to figure out how to deal with this.

Hey Patricia,

I'd suggest trying to find a way to report the content. If it really is bothering you that much, getting something done about it may help you a bit. Bare in mind though that this wont necessarily make the comments go away. They've already been said, and therefore getting over it is partially down to you. I know these comments hurt, trust me, I've been bullied a lot, and things being said online can hurt just as much as in person. Obviously, I'm not gonna tell you to just ignore it. You've made it clear that you can't, and that's fine. Being sensitive is okay, I too am sensitive. Perhaps you can reply, and maybe tell people that the harsh comments aren't necessary. Remember to be confident in yourself, even if people make you feel bad about who you are. As James said, you are beautiful, and the people who tell you otherwise are not worth listening to. It's not as simple as just reminding yourself this, I know, but it's a start.

If the comments persist, maybe you can disallow comments on the vidoes so that no more comments of that nature can be made. Don't let it put you off though, I'm sure that whatever the people are saying is totally untrue, and remember that those who sit behind a computer screen and bully someone with the courage to post these videos online are weak. I know I wouldn't be able to post a video on youtube, and chances are a lot of them don't either. Just remember, you're stronger than they are, and they really aren't worth listening to at all, even though it's hard not to.

Keep your chin up,
Hollie.

Would you let me see beneath your beautiful
Would you let me see beneath your perfect
Take it off now girl, take it off now girl
I wanna see inside.
