Does it count as bullying when your friends ignore you and give you dirty looks in the halls at school? Or they purposley do something nice to others right in front of your face just to kind of make you mad? I guess? Or they kind of shove by you in the halls? I know it doesn't seem like a very big deal, but I don't know what to do. I know they don't sound like real friends. But this is really bugging me. Should I talk to the counselors at school about this? My "friends" won't listen to me.

In my view, the only action that counts as bullying MAY be shoving you in the halls. Doing something nice to others in front of your face I don't consider as bullying since they may genuinely like the people they're being nice to. They're trying to rub your nose into the ground over something that happened and your friends believe you're responsible. Giving you dirty looks is just being unfriendly. From the sounds of it, you have tried to talk or socialize with them and they want nothing to do with you for whatever reason(s), so I think a good deal of their retaliation can be avoided if you refrain from talking to them. I think the only thing school authorities can do to your friends is address the shoving, although before you contact the school counselor, try not talking with your friends for a while and see if their behaviour persists. If it doesn't, then there's no need to bring in the school counselor. Either way, find new people to socialize with, I doubt your friends are going to make that difficult.

I think it's rude if they are blatantly ignoring you and giving you looks. But if they are shoving you, yes you should talk to someone.
You could always talk to a counselor at school and see their opinion on it, even if it's just getting help talking to those "friends" and seeing whats up. Hope all goes well!  |

Well, personally, I think that's girls being catty. I don't think your counciler should ignore it, this is the way girls bully! This is how we do it. You piss of a girl, she gives you a bad eye, then fucks or calls you a bitch under her breath, it's still bullying. Just a different type.

This could be considered a form of bullying, yes. I think your 'friend' is just being rather rude to you. It may be an idea to talk to her and see what's got into her, if she continues to be like this then it's best to ignore her. |

it IS a form of bullying, but as you said it's not a severe one... I kind of went through the same thing as you are going, when I was in 8th grade. My sis told me to go find new friends. I did as she said and I found MUCH better friends. Don't lose hope because not everyone accepts everyone else. Find the people who DO accept you and don't change for those who don't. Keep your head held high no matter what and don't give in Rachel.
