Fears - August 2nd 2012, 02:29 AM

I dont know if this would go here... so move it if it needs to go somewhere else...

I have irrational fears and a load of fears that I dont know how to get rid of...

I have irrational fears of zombies and ghosts.

For zombies, i KNOW they dont exist, and probably never will... but... Im terrified to the point I cannot watch Zombie movies (Except for zombieland). I have nightmares, cannot sleep...

Ghost movies... Im ok with depending on the movie. i watched Grave Encounters last night and I could barely sleep. I believe there are such things as ghosts and stuff, but like... paranomal activity didnt bother me...

I dont know what to do. i love scary movies, but hate how they make me terrified to the point I have difficulty sleeping...

The other fears I have include spiders, the dark, being alone, silence, heights, flying, death...

Any suggestions or similar stories?

It's a momentary relief from the existential terror of existence!

Hi, I absolutly HATE horror movies they scare the crap out of me, I literally cling to people when my family watches them and i scream A LOT. My friends/family find the way I react rather amusing though. As for the fear of zombies, yeah I don't like them very much either but for the spiders and such sometimes if you expose yourself to them, you become accustomed to them (mere exposure effect). I know it doesn't sound like the best idea but I've been trying it with my fear of heights, I can't honestly say that I am ready to go base jumping off the Grand Canyon, but maybe someday. If that doesnt seem like a good idea you could always talk with someone propffesional about it, but they may just want to expose you to them as well. Anyways I hope maybe one of these could help you out. Remeber YOU control the fear, it doesn't control you. GOOD LUCK!

Well I cant say I'm have that many fears. But I have one. A crippling fear of open water. If my feet can't touch bottom or I can't see the bottom I'm paralyzed and usually sink until someone gets me or I touch.
