Vallium/Antenax - What do they do?

I went to the doctor today to try and sort out my anxiety, sleeplessness and flashbacks/nightmares. She prescribed me vallium/antenax but didn't say what it would help with. I was hoping people could explain to me what it's meant to do?

Antenex and Valium are synonymous, they are the same medication.

The actual drug name is diazepam and is classified as a benzodiazepene. This is the same class as xanax and some other anxiety medications. Its primary effects are a muscle relaxant, anti-anxiety (mellows you out), and sometimes a sleep aid.

Its basically the first tier in starting management of PTSD any many other disorders and should help with excess stress and your sleeplessness.

I was prescribed Valium when I had to have a load of teeth taken out once- I was very scared of the dentist! I took it in the morning, and by the time I was in the chair, I was singing along to the radio he had playing, and my feet were dancing around at on the dentist chair.

So yea, they help calm you down, and deal with stress and anxiety

Valium, (diazepam) is part of a family called benzodiazepines (benzos for short)

Other drugs in that catergory include lorazepam and clonazepam.

These drugs are to help you relax, and they can sedate you.
